  1. Regardless of tonight's performance, I think there's already enough evidence.
  2. Social media and the 24 hour news cycle definitely accentuates the discontent, and keeps it going between games. However, by November 1969, when White was sacked, there was growing anger at the home games due to a poor start to the domestic season, following on from a heavy defeat to celtic in the previous season's Scottish Cup Final, plus the lack of a league title since 1964 and a cup since 1966. The anger finally exploded towards the end of the Gornik game though. Until yesterday, I hadn't really experienced that level of anger at a game since the Gornik game.
  3. I posted elsewhere about being at Ibrox as a boy on the night in 1969 when we lost 3-1 to Gornik Zabre (6-2 on aggregate). The main stand (wooden floor!) rumbled with stamping feet and the chant 'White must go' went up. Davie White was sacked soon afterwards, and Waddell was appointed. Discontent with White had been building up for a while, and the Gornik game was the final straw.
  4. Last time I experienced that atmosphere at Ibrox was as a 10-year old in 1969, the night Gornik beat us 3-1 and the fans were changing 'White must go'. Davie White was gone by the end of the week.
  5. Board meeting will be required, of course. Alastair Johnston, who has been at the scene of every crime at the club over the past twenty years or so, will have to be summoned from his visit to the Ryder Cup, or his endless golf games in the States, to participate via a screen. The fact that this freeloader is still involved in key decisions sums up a lot that is wrong with the club. Hot-shot 'international businessman' whose 'extensive contacts' and 'experience' have delivered nothing to Rangers. The epitome of the empty blazer.
  6. Apart from the mediocre summer signings for midfield and attack, Beale made a huge mistake by failing to deal with the slow, ageing and leaky defence.
  7. I was against the idea of a caretaker manager for the rest of the season, but seeing the lack of obvious alternatives it might not be a bad idea to bring in an experienced guy who could stabilise things and advise the club on wider issues (including appointment of a DoF). Don't have a clue who this experienced guy might be though.
  8. Should have been allowed to leave at the end of his last contract.
  9. If they can keep it to 1-0 with 10 mins to go they know our defence will go into headless chicken mode.
  10. He needs a break from hitting the first man with corners and free kicks ...
  11. All this, plus a complete failure to fix the slow, ageing, and leaky defence.
  12. All this, plus a complete failure to fix the slow, ageing, and leaky defence.
  13. I don't know - you could be right about that. It would make sense, as something has obviously changed for the worse.
  14. There's been something not right about the defensive coaching, especially for set-pieces, for a very long time. Beyond that, although it's an unpopular opinion, I would say that any team building its defence around Goldson is likely to have problems at set-pieces.
  15. Unfortunately, the rebuild of the squad hasn't reached the defence, although this has been our weakest link for a long time.
  16. Every single time we have one of these performances from Clancy or Collum there is a storm of protest for a few days, and then, within weeks, they are back at Ibrox officiating at one of our games. We need to make it clear that they can't be allowed to referee our games again. If this fails, and they are back at Ibrox, they need to hear the message loud and clear from the stands throughout the game. It's the very least we can do.
  17. Just back from the game. Can't believe that Kamara was given the full 90 minutes. Horrific performance from him. Quite a few players clearly disagreed with Beale's decision on the Tillman goal, and I fully understand why. Tillman must be furious that his manager talks about 'sportsmanship' and 'fair play' when he gets kicked around the pitch and then assaulted when he scores a perfectly fair goal.
  18. All credit to Beale for the results, but this team needs gutted.
