  1. He's just too clever for them. Not a surprise, but it's nice to have it confirmed so publicly...
  2. You need a better dictionary. Oxford English Loyal
  3. I agree. Mostly amusing and sometimes informative. For example, on kerrydale street there's an entire thread with something like 180 pages devoted to us - on their main page. But checkout how sneaky they are. The thread appears second to bottom so it looks like it's an older one that no one bothers with. Then check the time of the latest post on it. Going by that, it should be at the very top (or very close to it). Obsession, dishonesty and self-delusion course through their veins.
  4. Indeed. If, for example, Samsung offered us £500k per year becuase of the exposure the place gets on Sky etc, it would be foolish to turn that down. Remember all the reporting that was done from there before the old firm semi? I'd be surprised if that wasn't of interest to some big company.
  5. The only French I know is "bonjour, bonjour, nous somme les garcon billy..."
  6. Plus a close second after Kerrydale Street, this is the most widely read forum by sellick fans so your pieces are probably going out to a wider audience than any DR "journalist"!
  7. I don't know mate, I'd need to see some concrete evidence of the link you mention. It wouldn't surprise me though. In my opinion, it's more likely that the DR is just shit-stirring and sniggering while watching the reaction because they think they are untouchable. I think they abuse the very notion of "journalistic integrity" whenever it suits them e.g.kidding on they've got police sources while maintaining the charade that as "journalists" they have a duty to protect those sources so when the story is challenged, they can hide behind that. I've not bought it for years and I avoid their website. In the long term, I feel that's the best way to hurt them and I'd encourage every Bear to do the same.
  8. What he really meant to say was "The theme of the online age: Retweet any old pish that doesn't stand up to any scrutiny at all but at least it supports your narrative and accuse anyone who disagrees of bias".
  9. Other than the Motherwell game which I imagine will be quite tasty, the others are like a "Friendly +". I think we should look at this as a good opportunity to bed our new players in. Let them get to know each other in competitive games which even though are against lower league opposition, they'll be busting a gut against us. Plus I'm in Spain at the end of July and I hate being on holiday when there's no fiba on so it would be brilliant to be able to take in a few games, watching the team gel and sinking a few cervezas!
  10. Once we know what he's been charged with, ,we'll have a better idea of what's in store for him. First offence or not, given the seriousness of what he did, I'd be hoping for 3 to 6 months banged up but like everyone else here, I fear he'll walk from court with a slap on the wrist. This is one for the watching.
  11. I really like the idea that smaller players aren't automatically binned due to their stature, given that some of the world's best players e.g. Iniesta and Messi are only 5'7". I wonder how many potential stars have had their development and career ruined due to being told "you're no big enough wee man"?
  12. Can the Richard Dawkins Loyal meet at the Louden?
  13. 30 mins ago I was still gutted but I got to thinking how far we've came in such a short space of time. Any new gaffer is usually working on a three year plan and there will be slipups on the way. The management team aren't stupid. They'll have seen what we seen and know what needs to be improved. European football would have been great but temper that with the knowledge of how many teams, even the big teams in Europe, have bad results either side of a hard Champions League or Europa League game. Would our squad really have been ready for that challenge on a number of fronts? Dont get me wrong I'd have taken it and the thought of that mob celebrating their victory cuts deep. But now we can concentrate totally on the league. I'm really looking forward to next season as we continue to improve in terms of players and consistency of performance.
  14. I won't even see the game, never mind have a beer cause I'm working until 5. Got the game on record and I'm going to maintain radio silence on the way home. It's a slim hope but it's all I've got!
  15. I agree with this in part. I think there should be a threshold before you can start a new post but something in the 100-200 range seems about right. Alternatively - I don't know how busy the admins/mods are in their daily life but maybe posts by new members should be put in moderation and need to be approved. I don't agree with a subforum for new members - you're either a Rangers supporter who should be on here and in the mix with everyone else or you're not, and should be banned. From my own point of view, I wouldn't dream of starting a new post as a new member or a low poster unless it was something really really important. And if it's that important, I would doubt very much whether I'm the first Bear to hear about it. Possible, but highly unlikely. It just seemed to me that I should behave on here like you would in any new group. Stay in the background, suss it out, don't be a fanny attracting unwanted attention to yourself and only speak when you've got something to say. Over time, you build up some credibility and get more involved. But maybe that's just me
  16. Some teams were formed with massive potatoes on their shoulders so I'm betting the Founding Fathers rejected the whole idea of any fruit or veg, in order to maintain a dignified distance.
  17. Previously the gaffer has said he got into football after doing well as a trader in the city. He was comfortable financially and wanted to follow his dream so I don't think he will be swayed by 50k or more as a salary. What will sway him is the opportunity to manage a top 6 (or thereabouts) EPL side but I don't think that will happen until he is really successful with us. If he's getting European football with us and doing then I just don't see him going to say, a West Brom or even an Everton. The other thing in our favour of keeping him long term is that none of the big English clubs are actually managed by Englishmen...
  18. I've no idea how transfer deals work, but surely Barton must already know the main terms of the deal i.e. the salary on offer before even setting foot in Scotland?
  19. This clown has got previous. A friend of mine and her pal turned up 10 minutes late for their reservation on a freezing winters night and he refused to serve them. When they asked why - the place was empty - he gave them a torrent of abuse. Apparently they were banned and told never to come back. The more bad publicity he gets the better as far as I'm concerned.
  20. I agree. For me, her employment status is less relevant than the fact they are associating with her in any capacity. Someone with her background should be anathema to any respectable (yes I'm laughing at myself using that word) organisation.
  21. The gaffer's plan is to keep this style of play and get better and better at it. I can't help but be excited by what I'm seeing on the pitch. We are playing what I regard to be proper football; when we get it right we look brilliant and teams get a doing. Stacked against that are the teams that come to defend and every now and again, we are going to have an off day and the defensive side will get a draw or steal a goal on the counter or whatever. While the team has done really well so far, they have only been together for a short time and the gaffer hasn't even had a full season yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the summer because if we are not going to change our style much, then we can hopefully expect a few better players to implement it. Before that though, think about the next Kilmarnock game. Are they really going to sit back and defend in numbers in their own place? It's possible, but if they do then it shows how far we've come already when a Premiership side is afraid to open up even if they are at home. But if they do open up and want to stand toe-to-toe with us, then I am confident we will do to them what we did to Hibs.
  22. There is a difference in reporting between the BBC nationwide and BBC Scotland. I was watching the news before Sportscene came on and the English lassie reported the game as "SPL club Kilmarnock hang on for a draw at Championship side Rangers". First line of BBC Scotland website "Rangers fail to live up to 'favourites' tag". My missus has no great interest in football but even she's noticed it. I remember her saying during a game I was listening to on BBC radio in the motor "how come you cannae tell from the commentators when Rangers score but when the other team score against them, it's like they crazy Brazilian ones that go Goooooooooooooooooooooaalll! gola! gola! gola! gola! goooooooooaaaaaallll!..."
