  1. Ewan Chester is not in the club suit and tie. Could be just watching the game or could be looking at someone for Birmingham City.
  2. Duffy was at Chelsea in an era when they signed players that didn't make it at us (like John Spencer). For Vanoli: - Italy have a long tradition of producing tactically excellent coaches, that can create a strong defence as a foundation. - He is clearly highly regarded in Italy, and has been hand picked by Conte at a moment when Conte has reestablished his authority (signed new contract). - He will learn from Conte, one of the leading managers of the modern generation. - He knows Rangers. I just think he is one to follow with interest. Struth and Smith stepped up OK. Chelsea operate a system with 3 assistants to the first team coach. An assistant manager's role could be pitched as a step up. Future manager? Maybe, but he has a bit more to prove.
  3. I'd go with Conte's judgement. Appointment coincides with Conte getting a new contract, so clearly bringing in his own men. Conte has been wrong though, I am sure he has at least once.....
  4. Vanoli has joined the coaching staff at Chelsea. Possibly someone that would be good to bring in, in the future, if we could offer him a promotion in coaching terms. Hope he does well.
  5. Sadly, that night in Turin would be the last time that Paul John Gascoigne would grace a World Cup match, aged just 23 he would never again appear for England on the highest stage.
  6. Goram, F De Boer, Boughie, Gio, Laudrup, Ferguson, R De Boer Steven, Numan, Reyna, McCoist Gone for a team that would still play, rather than 'all time' greats.
  7. Stay. Teams that have 7 managers in 7 years are the same teams that get relegated from the Prem to League 1. Stability is important and a key tenant of Ranger's success over our entire history. We had only a handful of mangers over the first 140 years and we were the most successful club in the world. He may not feel like the right man, right now, but stability is essential.
  8. Progres striker Alexander Karapetian is quoted as saying "They are a strong team, a physical team. (When) I see the striker, he looks like a monster" Who does he mean, Waghorn?
  9. Just watched the highlights video again from 1st leg, we could have had 3 or 4. We will be another week sharper in the final third, I think we will win 0-3.
  10. Looking back on this now, it should have been 3 or 4 - Nil. I think we will put it well beyond doubt on Tuesday.
  11. Europa group stages. Within 10 points of Celtic. An old firm win. Ideally a cup but that can be a bit of a lottery.
  12. Halliday came on for last minute - for the chance to say goodbye?
  13. With a kind draw, we should be aiming for the group stages. Aberdeen have been close, and I expect us to be significantly better than them by next season.
  14. I was at the Forest v Blackburn game today. Forest were turgid. Powder puff at the back. Plenty possession but slow to move the ball and no threat going forward. I think they will go down. But I would take Zach Clough. Swap him for Kiernan and Waghorn when Forest go down.
  15. "We tried to fill three major points and it wasn't an easy decision. "First of all, we wanted someone with a Rangers past. The second point was of course to know the Scottish reality of football and the third, which was also important and which makes all the difference, is to align with our dynamic, our processes and our methodologies. "We chose Jonatan and we believe in him. He will be a good assistant to add to our team because he's a quality guy, he is a hard worker and he is clever." - PC This is why the other candidates were unsuccessful.
  16. PC clearly wants to rip up the "training culture" that has become pervasive in Scotland increasing work rate in and frequency of sessions, while retaining the winning mentality of previous Rangers teams. I just can't see John Brown or Barry Ferguson supporting double training sessions and some of the more demanding elements of diet and preparation. That is why BF fell out with PLG. JJ is a good choice. Open to European ideas but knows the inside of a winning Ibrox dressing room. And a reasonable coaching CV with connections to international players that may well be realistic targets.
  17. Some: http://www.<No links to this website>/sport/football/watch-rangers-young-star-myles-9811253 Not sure how to break out the video, so it is a link to the DR, sorry.
  18. I can think of 2 reasons: - get a few more fans along to a midweek fixture. People tend to be excited about young players making their debut. - it gives LM a decision to make. Push an extra attacker into his line up, to try and exploit the youngsters, or park the bus as normal. The former opens up the game for us and the latter fills everyone with confidence. We named 2 youth defenders over 24 hours in advance, and they still park the bus - running scared. Mind games.
  19. This will be all over RM Meltdown. The thread makes you think he would be better off at Chelsea, if he gets pelters like this from the outset.
  20. You don't have to be a lifelong Rangers fan for the role. You need an ability to coach and relate to the players, an understanding of the club and the Scottish game, and the flexibility to take on board Pedro's methods. That third point rules out most of the candidates. KT could be an interesting choice.
