The market we need to be in is 3-4 million players and maybe 4 of them. I'd sell Morelos for big money if its on offer and buy a centre back, 2 forwards and a centre mid for cash. And they all have to be captain material or an exceptional individual. That's how we will win this league, with better players.

Sensible post. We need an uplift in quality. A few higher level players could lift the functional ones with them. We have too many steady players just now who can't drive a team by force of personality or individual talent. We used to have exceptional individuals and if they didn't do it we could scrap with anyone. What I'd do for a Ferguson in midfield to cajole the weak minded and a DeBoer, Mols, Laudrup, Albertz to do something magical when it all looks fucked.

For Morelos to get 3 games for McKenna fouling him by wrestling him, hooking his foot into Morelos leg and dragging it into himself with zero force by Morelos and then booting Morelos in the face (both players received the same punishment of 3 games!) and then this one where a clear red is overruled against us. I honestly think they see what they want to see. Worst of it is there is clear video evidence of both incident which vindicate Morelos and bury Bachmann but the panel seem to have watched the Sportscene angles only.

I think the issue we have is that we are mimicking the Liverpool formation but they have 3 strikers upfront and we have played 1 striker plus two wingers who don't really score a lot. If we continue to play 4-3-3 we either need to accept that's it's really a 4-5-1 and get a good 10 or we need to sign another mobile forward who has a goal threat to play nearer Morelos/Defoe. I personally think playing Defoe central and Morelos and Kent narrow either side would suit the personnel we have now. I'd go with Kamara McCrorie and Davis/Arfield in midfield. We need our wingbacks bombing on in that formation to provide width

The Power high boot was at least only reckless rather than a deliberate boot to the head, but for the life of me I can't see why McGinn doesn't get about 4-5 games ban for an outright assault against Dundee Utd. It was so clearly a premeditated elbow smash and near knocked a guy out. Its time to sack this system and get back to letting go the ref do the job in the pitch. Revisiting incidents clearly isn't working and there are massive contradictions. Morelos wasn't even a yellow yet he gets 2 games. McGinn is worthy of about 3 months for assault and he gets no action.

I think the best mix for us might prove to be McCrorie, Kamara and Davis/a fit Arfield. We need guile and Davis provides that, McCrorie is the destroyer and ball winner, Kamara can carry the ball and can also pass. With Kamara and McCrorie we have athleticism mixed with ball playing ability, freeing up Davis to play his passes further upfield. I say all this as someone who has never been a fan of Jack. I think he's a bit of a nothing midfielder. Tidy but mostly ineffectual, a bit like an upgraded Jason Holt.

I've always thought Lafferty was shite and I'm not changing my mind now. I think we will see Davis back in the team and pushed on to support Defoe with possibly McCrorie dropping out. Same wingers as usual and Defoe in the middle. Thinking that we will try to control possession better and hope Defoe gets a chance or two and takes them. Possible that Middleton comes back into the squad to give either Candieas or Kent a rest as they ran themselves into the ground last game (Middleton from the bench I should add)
