Don't think Jig is so far off the mark with these comments. Strangely it is the fitness levels of the lower div teams that have surprised me the most. As is being proved, just because you are a postie or plumber who trains a couple of times a week doesn't mean you do not have a high level of fitness. We are no Barca who can wear a team out with a passing game. That level of consistency and skill just does not exist in the Scottish game or players. The margins of skill aren't that great. I watched the Motherwell game in the cup and remember buzzing at how well our team played against an SPL team. They were shit. The difference is having the players who can come up with a defence splitting pass or a forward who can create a chance from nothing. On the wages being paid yes you would think we could steamroller teams week in week out with attractive passing football. The players available at this level just don't have that skill. Jig wasn't so far off the mark. From what I've seen of the lower div teams they can defend all day but haven't the ability to create enough chances to score. Read the current league tables. Nuff said.
