  1. Only other Dutch player I can think of is theo snelders so unless you'll allow a keeper up front I'm stumped.
  2. Huistra for left mid. Still thinking of CM, or maybe extra striker or defender
  3. If bell doesn't respond well he'll be shown the door going on what warburton said previously.
  4. Remember the thistle game, pretty sure all goals scored by redheads bro Andersen hat trick, McCall and gough. Think that was the game laudrup did his Jim Baxter impression doing keepy ups. He was immense that day....sorry who was the video about again? I think a David Healy video or Francis Jeffers would be the ultimate challenge! Great video as ever.
  5. Ok first things first. I do think the board should have told them after the Motherwell game their time was up. While it was obvious to the rest of the world these players are clearly delusional and needed to be told how it was. However, to moan at this disrespect when they had been paid more in a week that someone on minimum wage gets in a year when they clearly don't give their all, they pile on the pounds, one bets on games involving his own club all the while paying fans who bust their balls off in their jobs to be able to watch Rangers play continue to be disrespected game in game out. I'm not usually one for being spiteful or holding grudges but these guys epitomise all that is wrong in modern day footballers.....what's in it for me, how much can I get. Good riddance to the lot of those wasters.
  6. Knowing warburton he'll be taking his time making sure he doesn't buy the wrong house at the wrong time.
  7. I agree that we'll sign a winger but still not sure who. I'd say Allan would be a good but not vital addition to the squad. Maybe warburton and weir will get something from law and shiels this year but creativity in the middle of the park is almost non-existent. Allan had 15 assists last year and therefore would be a good shout. I don't know enough about Halliday or Ferguson to know whether either would be good signings. Ferguson was direct when he came on against Motherwell I the first leg but seemed to be a one trick pony.
  8. Weren't the Newcastle quintet a deadline day deal? I know what the OP means, it's a buzz for sure but unless we are trying to manipulate the situation to get a deal done e.g. Testing hubs resolve with the last chance to get any cash for Allan, then I suspect warburton, given the task at hand, I'd more likely to favour getting players in well before then.
  9. Seems to have strong wrists, good reflexes, makes himself a big target when one on one (quite schmeichel-esque) and can get down to the bottom corners very well. If he's on a free we'd be mad not to at least speak to him.
  10. Let's say king and co are true on their word about 30m of investment over 3 years. Would people rather we spend more now when players are less likely to want to play in our current division or n a year when we (hopefully) get back to the top league or 2 years when we make it (possibly) into Europe? I look at Stuart Dallas as an example of warburton finding good players that no one knows of. Just eager for to see who else comes in and how we shape up in friendlies.
  11. Think bond is more highly rated since this guy has only got England caps to U19s, though bell needs to get replaced or at the very least pushed for a first team place.
  12. I doubt it, I think when warburton knows a player well e.g. Kiernan, he can just sign them, I think with these guys he just wants to "do his homework" and get a better feel for them. Under mccoist we'd have given these guys 3 year deals, so I think there is a chance we'd sign both if they are good enough and fit in with warburtons vision.
  13. Huistra was one of my favourites pre laudrup despite being young, so I'd love to see some of his footage.
  14. Well I was thinking the same thing in that people all of a sudden expect us to be spending millions again for a single player. Wilson is tried and tested, weir knows him, he's young, wanted to come here and he's free. That's being realistic. We aren't in Europe and won't be for at least another year or two, we aren't in the top division so for me it's unrealistic to target anyone that would fall into the better player bracket. we just have to be smarter about our approach and I believe we will get this under warburton. I mean he signed Stuart Dallas from Crusaders and he's done really well for himself at Brentford but I bet their fans were thinking WTF is this signing!
  15. It as total pie in the sky stuff. Being assistant at Newcastle is his next step to managing in England and he's fairly close to home for his family reasons. Wish the guy luck but as was said above we have our manager now and if I'm being honest I doubt I'd have felt this optimistic with cathro in charge. Warburton is saying the right things and if he lives up to those words then I suspect we'll forget all about cathro.....provided he doesn't go on to massive success at which point the forums will be full of "I told you so" threads.
  16. How many players who you class as better than Wilson and kiernan who will cost upwards of 1 or 2m and cost 20k a week on wages want to come and play in the championship. I'd rather sign unknowns who warburton does know who will do a job for us than blow a load of cash on people you've heard. For instance the kid Bond from Watford is probably an unknown to most on here unless people have played football manager or an avid fan of the lower leagues in England (as he's been on loan) but for me this for a few hundred k is better than trying to land a keeper on significantly more money and perhaps as first choice. Everyone is impatient to see new signings but just give it time and we'll see a team that, I think everyone will be far happier with as a collective rather than the sum of individuals with big egos and big wage packets.
  17. One of the things that warburton was looking for when discussing terms with the board was to get assurances on the budget, I have confidence that when required we will spend, but it has to be for the right players that add value now and will be fit for the premiership next year. The fact that we hadn't heard of kiernan or the fact it was quoted at 200k I don't think means we have no money, it's just what money we do will will be spent on players warburton believes will make a difference and contribute to a healthy and productive footballing environment on and off the park.
  18. If there is one thing that is certain its that warburton will be working his socks off doing research on players, getting in touch with his various contacts etc. just because the press haven't got a sniff of what's going on doesnt mean nothing is happening. Warburton said time and time again he won't be rushed into signing the wrong people at the wrong time. Ore players in the same mould as wilson and kiernan will certainly give us a young and competitive squad.
  19. Provided the youth players are good enough. I suspect warburton will be spending a great deal of time with the likes of gasparotto, sinnamon, Kelly, Halkett, Crawford, Ramsay, McKay, Gallagher, Hardie, Walsh, Aird etc. to gauge whether they fit in with his approach. The same can be said for those left behind from the summer purge, if he wants any of them gone we may see closer to 8/9 signings.
  20. We signed him for 4.5m, we were spending stupid money back then. I remember being at the home game against Dundee Utd in 2001 when we lost 2-0, Scott Wilson and konterman were awful that day. Pretty sure konterman was booed that day. We had Marcus gayle playing that day, you could tell advocaat was losing it at that point. Still remember fabrice fernandes cracking one off the bar from about 25 yards out just before we lost the first goal. Saying that though that goal against Celtic is probably as sweet as you'll see the ball hit, some wine up with the left arm no wonder it left his foot like a rocket!
  21. As you say the Watford connection is where Warburton will have taken note of his potential. Bond worked up the youth ranks whilst Warburton was a youth coach before becoming the academy assistant. Maybe he had a cheeky meeting with him whilst over there. I think this would be a pretty decent coup for us and a solid move for him.
  22. Pretty much this. Warburton has said about coping with the pressures of playing in front of 45,000 and I think this is where Clark fails. For all we know he's a goal scoring machine in training and on match days he freezes because he can't cope with the weight of expectation. He wouldn't be the first player to succumb to this. There is no doubting Clarks work ethics and it's clear he wants to be at the club so it just comes down to his ability and dealing with expectation. Sadly though I think he's not going to cut it long term.
  23. Surely the early rounds will act as a warm up for the league. He'll want the team to gel and it's better to do that in petrofac cup than against St Mirren at ibrox for league day 1. Whether it's youths or not will largely depend on who we sign between now and then and whether the remnants of the first team squad are up to warburtons standards.
  24. Is the barrel sufficiently scraped? Roll on the start of the season or about half a dozen signings! Just give us something meaningful to discuss.
  25. Wouldn't have seen him as Butland is their number 1 at U21 level.
