  1. there will never be an appointment that satisfies everyone. I think that McCall has done well to pick up a dishevelled, poorly organised and lazy squad and has managed to get something out of it. He managed to do a good job at Motherwell the arguement that he got put out in Europe is just a load of pish, he was Motherwell manager not rangers or celtic). However, I think McCall may still not be the right person in the long run. Is mark warburton? For me personally no, I think he's relatively unproven as he has 78 games to his name as manager. Then there's folk like Derek mcinnes who at St Johnstone had the same win percentage as McCall at Motherwell, then went on to Aberdeen with 57%. Does that make mcinnes a better appointment? As long as we get someone in with new ideas, can develop youngsters and isn't an unknown entity then I'd be happy.
  2. When you don't have a bumper TV deal like EPL you have to find a way to milk as much money as possible out of the game, that's the only reason. If the 50% rule wasn't in effect it would be a one off game at a neutral venue.
  3. Even more embarrassing that neither of our top two are what you'd class as strikers
  4. Also, how good was that cross from big amo for arveladzes first!
  5. Fantastic mate, brings back great memories. That 2003 squad was crammed with talent, makes you wonder how we picked a starting 11 back then. It means so much to have had these special days, here's hoping we'll have something to cheer come the end of this season, though suspect it'll be cheers of relief.
  6. I'm hoping stu gets a chance to see Luca gasparotto in training. He had a good season for airdrie and I doubt he'd run up the park and hit a 35 yard shot/back pass to the opposition keeper when we need to retain possession. Streets looked decent from the short time he had against raith so would probably say he was the best bet.
  7. Wanted to give Clark the benefit of doubt. He didn't play regularly during our worst coaching regime we've seen so thought with a run under McCall we might see a change in him but he's just not cut out for it. It's like sebo, he runs around and tries but there is no end product.
  8. Just have to wonder about him, Macleod and telfer across the middle of the park. I keep thinking the likes of sinnamon, gasparotto, McKay and Gallagher could have had a similar impact if given the chance. Delighted for him and he seems to work quite well with shiels since shiels looked for the ball today and Murdoch played the simple passes to those that wanted it. Agree he's not going to be a superstar but he'll do well for us, hopefully get someone with experience and graat attitude to play alongside him to help him develop more.
  9. i had called for templeton to be given a go......he got it at Palmerston a month ago and he was awful. I believe that McKay and Walsh are good options with what we have available, the lad Carmichael from qots is on a free in the summer would be a decent shout if DKs investment does a no show. As for a good winger against Hibs, I'd rather stick with attacking wing backs, we are just too frail at the back to have an attacking line up, we just need to scrape through, that's all.
  10. Would love to say that I'm glad to see the back of them but there's a long way to go yet.....roll on Wednesday!
  11. So we outplayed qots for the majority of the game and created a wealth of opportunities but only 1 was taken. Question is should McCall keep the faith with Clark and Miller who give,100% every game but can't seem to hit the back of the net, or do we give Boyd, hardie or Gallagher a go? Or is there another option? Personally I'd like to see Hardie or Gaalgher in the mix, while I don't think changing the starting 11 is a great idea I think Clark for me has had plenty of game time and I'm not seeing the improvements I had hoped for. Boyd if he was unfit but capable of scoring might be a good shout but he's lost it and I wouldn't be playing him again. Gallagher regularly scores for the development team and Aldo for Cowdenbeath but is out of favour clearly. Hardie bagged a brace on his first full start but I don't know enough about the other aspects of his game. Who should we have as our striking partnership on Wednesday?
  12. 1 down 2 to go. Good effort but we need to find a way of taking our chances, no one seems capable of putting the ball into the corner of the goal.
  13. I think he was closer to 50k at Everton.
  14. Maybe mcculloch is now looking beyond his playing career with a new TV show Jig'll Fix It. Seriously though hope the leg is saved and he can play football again. Good gesture from mcculloch didn't doubt he was a nice guy and popular in the dressing room etc. but it doesn't change the fact he's past it and shouldn't be playing.
  15. Anyone seen that lad Declan McManus who was league one player of the year? I'm wondering if he's just another Nicky Clark story or if there is potential there. He's turned down a contract extension from Aberdeen so he'd be free if he was any good. It's going to be really tough for rebuilding this summer. We don't know who will be manager next year, we don't know what funds we have available, we don't know if any other first team players have extension clauses in their contract. I agree with an earlier point that a central defender, central midfielder and a striker to get a more solid spine is where to start and then add depth and hopefully quality and potential in the other areas.
  16. The mental boost of this win will serve us well. Beating them rather than just avoiding defeat is going to be really vital in the long haul. If we finish it off at ibrox with another win then I'm sure we'll take hibs as well. Need to work on getting more pace in our attacks as it really showed tonight.
  17. Pretty much what I had posted in the formation thread however mohsni is a bombscare so would like gasparotto in for his efforts at airdrie this year. Also upfront I think QotS will be expecting Miller and Clark, so let's change things around maybe keep Miller and play hardie, it just means it's something different for them to cope with.
  18. Agree with this, but if McCall goes with 3 centre backs you can be sure that mcculloch will play. If mcculloch ends up scoring throughout the play offs and we go up I wonder if he will redeem himself somewhat before leaving the club.
  19. Its been mentioned earlier I think, it doesn't count......which is good for us we haven't scored there yet this year.
  20. 17/09/02 - Viktoria Zsiskov 2 Rangers 0 Good luck with that one, I'd imagine anyone with that match recorded will have long since deleted that!
  21. Dont think mccall would go for this but I think it has the right balance of attack and defence plus it will catch QotS off guard as they'll be expecting Miller and Clark up front.
  22. Tbh the English championship is as high as hell get in England. It depends what motivates him if he wants European games then he won't play for a club regularly in England where he'll get a chance in Europe, but he'll get minted.
  23. He had his chance. He could have played a vital role in our midfield up the divisions and would still have been paid well enough. He, like others, used the TUPE to gain a move he might not otherwise have got. Unlike the others, he wasn't a Scotland international so can't us the excuse of thinking of his international career. Like most who decide once they've had their 5 mins of hype at rangers that they can go to England and be a success they come back north with their tail between their legs. Not that the lad would have developed much with our setup over the last 3 years anyway. What next? Wylde and fleck to sign?
  24. Lots of calls for foster now at RB. I'd rather see law there as I thought he did a great job against hearts at ibrox when we went down to 10 men. That way we have Wallace and law on opposite flanks as attacking wing backs.
