  1. That Sviachenko is a Danish international and only cost them about £2million. Hanley' s valuation sums up how ridiculous the English market is, and that's why we should be looking abroad. It's nonsense to say this management haven't been in long enough to set up a scouting network. Fuck sake Willie McKay used to be a one-man scouting network..
  2. Somebody should ask him if he accepts that this result was completely unacceptable, and that his tactics were responsible. If he doesn't acknowledge this, then it is time for him to go.
  3. He had the whole summer to learn that we needed to sort out that defence, after we chucked the Cup final away with 10 minutes to go. The problem is, this guy seems to refuse to learn from his mistakes.
  4. That's what happens when you play a 3 man midfield in a big game like that though. You need to dominate the midfield, and that means sacrificing forwards. No other team plays 4-3-3, although if the defence was half decent we might have had a chance.
  5. Folk are missing the point here. I'm not writing Garner off - though if Warbuton wanted a plank of wood who spends the whole game poaching and waiting for tap ins he should have kept Kris Boyd. But that money could have bought us an international class defender!
  6. I would have done the same thing if I had paid Celtic £50 for the privilege of watching them pump fuck out of us. But then again I'm not that stupid. I'm also not the incredible hulk..
  7. I'm not singling Joe Garner out here, who managed to score with his only touch of the ball, but surely anyone can see that you can get a decent international class centre half for that money. Yet Warbuton spends it on a 3rd division English striker?? Today isn't the first time we have been destroyed by the Tim's - it happened twice to Advocaat - but in both cases those results were shocks. The worst thing about today was that we were all half expecting it. It has been coming, and although Celtic have spent about 10 million this summer the fact is we haven't got value for the 5 million or so we have spent. Because when you insist on only buying players from England it doesn't go far. And the blame has to fall on the manager. Any one could see we needed a centre half, yet he has signed a couple of has beens to cover for Wilson and Kiernan if they got injured. He has also changed the midfield, bringing in another 2 has beens AND dropping Halliday & Holt - who dominated Celtics midfield last season. But the worst of all was today. Going with one centre half, who's on a booking, when you've used 3 subs already is completely unforgivable. He doesn't care how much Celtic beat us by - it's only a game to him. He wasn't kidding there is no plan B - you don't need one at Brentford where the fans would have been happy with not getting relegated back to their usual spot in division 4. It is the mark of a good manager to change your tactics. It is the mark of a poor manager to refuse to address them. And lets not let Frank McParland off the hook either, since he came in last autumn has he signed one good player? The grim reality is we are going to spend the rest of the season scrapping to finish in the top 4, which is not exactly what they promised when season tickets were up for renewal. But it's not all Dave Kings fault..
  8. I used to go to all the Scotland games, including many away games but I only go to the odd game now if somebody gets me a ticket. Yes the anti-Rangers anti-British shite does make it uncomfortable going to games, particularly at home - a lot of these rent-a-mouths would never go to the effort to travel abroad for a football game. But also international qualifiers are as boring as fuck these days. I mean Scotland can't really win tonight - beat Malta 2-0 with half a squad and nobody will care, and that is the best we could get realistically, but drop points and it's the end of the world. Playing shite like Slovenia, Andorra, Lithuania, I mean Kosovo ffs.. who wants to watch that? And I realise these other countries think the same about Scotland. It's just too boring. Still, it doesn't make sense to hope Scotland get beat just because the tartan army are diddies or because 45% of the country voted in a way that you disagree with. In fact it's the same logic the tims were using when they turned up en masse with PLO flags just because they were playing an Israeli team. I hope to become more interested in the future if they start picking Rangers players again, but the fact is I haven't even heard of most of the Scotland squad these days. I feel more proud to be Scottish watching the rugby team or Andy Murray, but then again he was a yesser as well..

  10. The performances so far have been unacceptable and we are lucky to have 8 points, despite not playing any top 6 teams so far. I can accept King not spending any money or getting us into debt, however what really bothers me is that pre-season it was all this "Going for 55" pish. Then once all the season tickets are bought suddenly he announces "well it's really all about finishing second" that is certainly what we are budgeting for, or at least Europa league qualification, but that looks doubtful. However I suppose they maybe expected to be coining it in from a merchandise deal by now, but Ashley & his cohorts put paid to that. This club must be challenging for league titles though. For one thing, the only way we can make money/compete with celtic is by getting into the Champions League. You get fvck all money even if you get into the group stage of the Europa league, so what worries me isn't just this season, but next season as well - where is this money coming from? Qualifying for the Europa league would probably make it actually harder for us to win the SPFL. We need money up-front. Then it can be recouped later. The OP is quite right, and it should be pointed out that Leicester did actually spend quite a bit compared to their usual budget, and boy are they going to coin it back in now. Of course due to new UEFA rules we probably need a wee Europa run or else we would be unseeded in every round of the Champions league qualifiers if indeed we did ever win the SPFL, however the fans ain't gonna keep buying into this austerity policy. And let's face it its not as if celtic are spending that much, or are/were that far ahead of us. Warburton is not blameless however. It is a massive weakness for a manager to not be able to change his tactics, although I do think the whole "no Plan B" thing is psychology more than anything else. If you want to win trophies, you need to tweak your tactics for certain games. It's the sign of a good manager. That being said, he never changed his tactics in the Scottish Cup semi but we still beat them, and they haven't really signed any world beaters since then. Its just that some of the celtic players who were crap before are now playing well for big Brenda. But they will go back to being crap. Remember Bobby Petta..? Warburton is no Walter Smith though. For starters, don't let your players brag in the media about challenging celtic, especially when they are getting on a bit like Barton & Miller. Do your talking on the pitch. Yes, privately tell the players they can win the title, but publicly it should all have been about lowering expectations, and maybe taking teams by surprise. For me, the biggest issue though is that we aren't getting value for money because we insist on buying English third division players and has-beens. You can't win the SPFL with that level of player. And if you are going to play attacking football, you need much better players than the opposition. We had that against most Championship teams last year, but it is harder this year and our players don't currently look like they are quite good enough. The likes of Sviatchenko and van Dyke didn't cost celtic tens of millions. Going back a bit we had Bougherra, Kyrgiakos, even Marvin fuckin Andrews.. we need international standard players, and we can well afford them, but not in the English marketplace! Yet we should still be beating teams like Kilmarnock. And I reckon we would have done if we played 4-4-2. Bring back Halliday and Holt. Rossiter is too young, Krancjar is too old and Barton is too slow. The celtic game must be Joey Barton's last chance. Play Tavernier at RM, Hodson at RB. Harry Forrester is a winger, not a central midfielder. But if we lose on Sep 10, they might as well hand celtic the trophy there and then. Sure as hell ain't going to be any title challenge from Hearts and Aberdeen either..
  11. This is my one complaint about the Warburton/Frank McParland approach. They seem to think we are an academy club for bringing on English youngsters. Some might think this is reminiscent of the Souness era (we started with 6 English players against Peterhead) however the fact is, English players - or rather players from the English league - are ridiculously overpriced. Look at Ross McCormack going for £14million. The top English Premier league clubs all look abroad for players to get value for money, why are we only looking at the English market? Time will tell, and I hope we succeed, however the fact is we haven't signed a single player who McParland doesn't know from the English leagues. I don't think a team can win the SPFL with English League 1 players (though we could probably finish 2nd) and we can't afford English Championship players, so it seems to me that we are completely neglecting what should be our main market. Bringing on top-class foreign talent before the English championship gets them, and maybe selling them on to the Premier League after a couple of years. Like we did with Gatusso, van Bronckhorst, Arteta, etc..
  12. I'm not sure I agree with these games being played at Forthbank - albeit it is a very nice stadium. I was at the game and, although it was a very young side, I couldn't help but think we'd have got more than double the crowd at Ibrox. Maybe they don't want to put these boys under too much pressure though. Should be a hard game against Stenhousemuir, especially considering how the 1st team struggled against them in this competition before. I don't know if these lower league SPFL teams are going to put out strong sides either though. Also, if we played sides like Hibs, Linfield or celtic, is Forthbank going to be big enough to cope with the crowds?
  13. Two neddy dicks sit behind me, think they must be brothers or something as they argue like fuck. Anyway the one who was only half a dick seems to have been replaced by a guy who is even more of a dick than the one who is a total dick. Spent the whole game shouting abuse at Joey Barton, and coming out with posh like "I actually hope we get beat cos this shite will never win the league" his reaction when they announced Barton as Motm was funny as Fock right enough! Also, I had my nephew with me and he stood up to watch the whole 1st half. It was only at h/t I noticed this was cos some fat burd next to him was taking up 2 seats! He was too shy to ask her to move so I swapped seats with him. She never showed up for the 2nd half though..
  14. Our fans still will get arrested though. The only difference is the police won't be able to arrest anybody singing other offensive stuff, eg. about the Ibrox disaster
  15. Is available here - http://club1872.co.uk/my-club-1872/contributor-surveys/offensive-behaviour-at-football-act-repeal/ Currently 91% supporting the repeal as proposed by James Kelly MSP. Personally I think the club is walking into a trap here. In an ideal world I would agree, as I think people should be able to shout and sing what they want at the football. But the reality is that the OBAF act really just levelled the playing field, so that fans of other clubs shouting abuse at us can be charged just the same as our fans can be charged for abusing them. Repealing this act would just take us back to Jack McConnell's time as first minister, ie. fans of other clubs could shout stuff at us, but if we shouted or sang anything back it would be jail for our fans and points deductions for our club. It would mean you would have 7,500 Celtic fans at Ibrox on January 2nd singing pro-IRA songs and waving banners about us being 'H***' BUT if one Rangers fan sings the Billy Boys then the get jailed for 6 months and the media will be calling for us to get sent back to the 3rd division. This is why only fans of one club (celtic) have been on these marches protesting about it. Do you really think Labour and the SNP are going to change the law so we can go back to singing FTP and the Vatican? I think that 91% of us are deluding themselves that repealing this act would mean we could go back to the 90s fan culture, but there probably hasn't been that many voted yet so get your votes cast now. I don't want to be reading about people not knowing about the poll now, even though it hasn't been that widely publicised in my opinion. The only way Rangers fans should be supporting the repeal of this act is if they also repealed Section 74 of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003, but the tims sure as hell aren't going to support that, neither are the Labour party as it was McConnell who brought it in (goodness knows why the Tories are supporting repealing OBAF, but they also haven't suggested repealing or amending the 2003 act either). So get voting.
