Howsitgoing got a reaction from King Jela in We need to have a serious conversation about Tav
I can agree with the HOF but if you was to say that ability is what got him "players player of the year" last season and it continues to get him a first team place let alone a captain position then id suggest that you would have to be a moron to suggest it.
Hype is what Tavernier's Rangers career has been all about. The tactics is set up for an average player to look good and Beale being a muppet was employed because he continued to set up the team for Tavernier's hype.

The usual trap. The chances are he may be our top scorer because:-
1. He takes all the penalties (that others win for him)
2. Midfield covering up for him lessens the chances for others to score.
3. His crosses are often rubbish and easily defended.

We’re going to see sooner rather than later but I’m certain that the first competent manager we get will have Tavernier sitting on the bench.

More likely they would have binned him.

I get he needs replaced and hasn't been what many want in a captain. His defending is poor and its never been addressed.
However he's been one of our best ever purchases for the numbers and important goals he's scored. Folk can try to diminish it all they want but he will go into the HOF and he will be looked at as one of our best ever RBs in years and decades to come. That's just fact

Our team is set up to have two attacking fullbacks for width. Bringing in Lammers, Danilo & Dessers when Borna & Tav were more agile would have worked a peach three years ago. Now it just looks like a muddled mess with no one really knowing where to play. Tom Lawrence looked lost when he came on. I had no clue where he was supposed to play and I suspect he didn't either.

The younger Jack made the Tavernier role work, we had a run of games not conceding with the two of them playing probably on a record breaking amount. We don't have players now that can allow it so its mental that this incompetent manager keeps on doing it. Another interview in where he mentions defensive errors, he will play the same system after the break with the same errors if he's not sacked.
I'm afraid its easier to get a new manager with a right back that can defend(Sterling) in than it is to find a midfielder that can do his job whilst having the stamina and speed to cover for an attacking fullback.

"100 goals and ridiculous assists".......hype.
That is the only reason the guy is still playing for our club. He is an average player who has players set up to compensate for his inabilities. Beale can't not fail doing that. First thing a decent manager will do is remove the liability that is James Tavernier.

Yeh definitely less. McGregor is much faster than Jack tho. If we had once really quick cdm then we could probably get away in most matches with just one player covering.
I agree btw that our current set up is the worst of all worlds. Tavernier isn’t really overlapping like he used to. And the cdm are kind of quasi covering. Neither defending well or attacking well.
But I think we need to sort out the midfield first before we have the luxury of capping our attacking output from our fullbacks

If we had a midfield 3 that were good footballers I think you would have a stronger point. If we had McGregor, Hatate and O’Riley I’d be up for the conversation.
The fact is (as we saw against Morton) when we don’t play Tav and Barasic. We have 0 creativity.
We will drop so many points.

I want someone like Muscat, this Polish guy or that AEK Athens guy.
Someone from the continent, who have won trophies and will bring in an attacking brand of football. Even if they're a big risk like the Polish guy or someone else, just give me something to be excited about. Cba with a boring, safe choice like Beale was.
The style of football which will be played needs to be high on the list of requirements for me

Does Muscat even play attacking football?

Why do people keep thinking he won't get sacked? He has too.
Hate hearing how it l be autumn or Christmas he l limp onto. It has to be now and the sooner everyone realises its now he has to go the better

This is my view. Tav was brought here by warbs to help get out if D1.
Time to let go.

Its not competitive though, that team was there for the taking and Beale doesn't have what it takes to do so.
If we want to have a competitive season its obvious that we need a new manager that will remove us of the perennial losers that the clown builds his team around.

Next manager needs to pick players on merit alone. His pet project with Tavernier has finished him as it has with the others.
He should be receiving a P45 in his birthday card tomorrow and the new manager needs to have no previous connections to the losers who masquerade as senior players.

No. Replace tav with a more focused and capable defender. Then switch the middle three balance to attack. You can do that when not having to cover so much for defence.
-
Howsitgoing reacted to Jimfanciesthedude in We need to have a serious conversation about Tav
Our attack was still shite because, and here's the kicker, Beale still played attacking fullbacks
So instead of attacking fullbacks we need to curb them, and since tav is howling defensively...........
Well you get my point surely

I think we might have tried it with Flanagan as well. Fuck, he's been here too long.
