James Mcarthur

RANGERS' interest in Hamilton midfield star James McArthur could be set to intensify if Charlie Adam seals a move to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Gers have agreed a £500,000 deal with Blackpool for the services of Adam, but the deal has stalled with Derby now also having entered the race.

However, Sporttimes understands that if Adam departs then Ibrox boss Walter Smith may move for McArthur, whose impressive form during his debut season in the SPL was closely monitored by the Ibrox coaching staff.

Accies are believed to have set a minimum valuation of £750,000 on their talented playmaker.

But after agreeing a £700,000 deal with Burnley for left-back Brian Easton, New Douglas Park supremo Ronnie MacDonald may be in no hurry to do business.

Should former Ibrox skipper Barry Ferguson seal a move south during the close season, Gers could be keen on combining the skills of McArthur and Portuguese playmaker Pedro Mendes.

It is also believed that McArthur's fellow midfield talent James McCarthy remains the subject of a £2million bid from Wolves.

Hes hardly shite, but it would only hinder his career to come and warm the bench at Rangers for god knows how long.

He should stay at hamilton for another season or two.

Exactly, not good enough for the rangers = shite. another squad player we dont need.

a cracking signing, rangers daft just like his uncle who runs an east end supporters bus....

Some people on here have obviously never watched him before, other than against us.

Watched him against other clubs and I think he is another player who will weaken us more than his leaving will weaken Hamilton.

i think he has the potential to be a very good player but in a couple of years. We just got rid a decent youngster in Furman, why sign another one to sit on the bench? Not good enough to be a regular with us at the minute.

It would be another young guy with potential that we would sign, not play, then sell in two or three years to a championship side.

We have young talent already in youth and reserves why spend money on another???

Because his dad runs a bus in glasgow????
