disgruntled_bear 157
Juventus are considering using Gianluigi Buffon and Felipe Melo as bait in order to lure Robin van Persie away from Arsenal.Reports in Italy suggest that the Turin giants are gearing up for a full scale attack on the transfer market this summer, with Van Persie, Fernando Torres, and Edin Dzeko topping their list of targets. However, with Juventus unlikely to be in the Champions League next season, it’s unlikely that Torres would be tempted into a move, and Dzeko would fetch a figure close to £30million.Therefore the Old Lady see the Gunners forward as the most realistic prospect, and with Arsene Wenger in desperate need for a goalkeeper and defensive midfielder, the Italians feel that their offer of Buffon and Melo could just tempt the Frenchman into parting with one of his prized assets.http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Arsenal-transfer-news-Juventus-to-offer-Gianluigi-Buffon-and-Felipe-Melo-as-bait-for-Robin-Van-Persie-article401275.htmlIf this is true.... Stu1993 101
Would all depend on who arsenal brought in to replace him. And i dont think Buffon Would leave at his age.
NOLUWDC 1
Definitely, Arsenal need a top class goalie and defensive mid.

Cappa 24
I'd turn that down and buy Akinfeev/Neuer/Adler/Diego Lopez and then bring in someone like Flamini. I reckon Lee Cattermole could do a job for Arsenal in DM. No point getting in a goalie and a DM, which they badly need, and then end up badly needing a world-class striker. Doesn't make sense to me. Cappa 24
Juventus see Robin Van Persie as a more realistic target than Edin Dzeko? I highly doubt Van Persie would be willing to leave Arsenal atm and Dzeko would love to play in Italy, albeit for AC Milan, but he's still a far more realistic target than RVP is. Juventus are a state.

scotty657 1
Buffon is top class but getting on, and Melo has hardly set Turin alight, has he?I reckon Juve would be getting the better deal.

He's been top class this season.
disgruntled_bear 157
Van Persie is overrated, if you get the chance to sign a Worldclass goalkeeper plus a defensive mid like Melo it's a no-brainer. He's already tied up Chamakh to take the striking role.
bluenose andy 1
Cant see wenger letting van persie go imo
JamieD 20,047
Buffon getting on? He's only 32, and he's a goalkeeper. That's about 5 or 6 league titles Arsenal could win if they finally had a great keeper.
JamieD 20,047
Also to those saying Buffon wouldn't leave, he wanted to leave before the Calciopoli scandal, saying he wanted a new challenge. The only reason he didn't was because Juve having to fight their way back up to Serie A WAS a new challenge.
Muff 245
Felipe Melo is overrated aswell, I don't think he's all that good a player at all.
FatPirateHooker 141
Buffon is NOT getting on a bit... hes only 32 ffs and as a keeper is probably in his prime.

Amac9 2,060
Arsenal definitely need a top class GK. Buffon would be perfect.
wutangster 38
Cant see Arsenal letting Van Peris go. Buffon would be a class signing for them if he wanted to leave as they need a top class (or even better than they have) keeper
mcpherson888 0
Melo has been atrocious this season. And why would Van Persie want to go to a team who arent in the champions league.Load of paper pish.
papaguy51 941
Definitely, Arsenal need a top class goalie and defensive mid. A top defensive mid is what they need.Felipe Melo isn't that.
NOLUWDC 1
Melo isn't a bad player. The only time I've seen him play was the Confederations Cup and at the start of the season where Juve were beating Roma and Lazio away. Obviously Juve have went right down since then and I haven't watched them for months. It will just be the typical summer at Arsenal anyway. Clearly needing new players but Arsene not bringing any in. Orangeclement 619
Would rather they brought in Adler or Neuer tbh and a big No to Melo thanks , Song is a better player than him IMO and Melo wouldn't be able to adjust to the pace of the EPL
