..dear friends, once more..

Firstly an apology. Everything went to hell in a hand basket for me last week, so I wasn't able to post the personal score I wanted to, or to come back in and thank everybody for their efforts last week, or to make any kind of analysis on who played for us and how any 'newbies' or long lost returnees performed.

Sufficient to say though that it was a magnificent performance by everyone involved and we managed to win the League at a canter without anyone having to knock themselves out, which is ideal really and how we want it to be. We want everyone to play for fun and not have the game seem like a chore, but we also want to WIN!!

So here we are at the start of another week with title 166 in the bag and title 167 up for grabs.

The game starts at 10am and runs through until 8pm on Weds. It's always very useful to have guys who can play right from the off as a good start keeps the opposition within catching distance when the main bulk of our players pitch in which is usually on a Monday evening.

Being the solid hard-working protestant (or any other faith or non-faith you might be!! ) lot that we are, most of our points come in the evenings when we finish work, but of course there are guys who do shift work or can find some time during the day to score for us to combat the wastrels from other teams who can sit on this game right from the start..

Finally, we know not everyone likes or approves of this game. That's fine, but we don't necessarily need to hear, or take an interest in, your opinion on the subject. It says 'PFYC' in the thread title and 'playforyourclub' in the thread description so there's no need for you to open the thread if it doesn't interest you. You mean 40,000 points but yes, it is.

The technique for taking the pens is this:

In DIRECTION try to stop the moving cursor between the 'O' and the 'N'. Even between the 2nd 'I' and the 'O' works too. Hold the mouse button down for about the length of time it would take you to 'double-click' then let go. The ball should fly into the top right hand corner. If the keeper saves it you have to hold the mouse button down a fraction longer next time, if the ball goes over the bar you are holding the button down too long.

Only gamble the minimum until you are regularly scoring pens. By that time you'll be hitting 60k+ plus scores and the pen will be worth 40k if you gamble and score it..

Ah! Just like the old days again..

126 players and although the team score isn't fantastically high we've done more than enough to keep clear of the chasers.

Again I have to apologise for not putting in that much of a shift this week. Residual hang-overs from last week meant I didn't have a lot of time on my hands, in addition to which the game is a bummer this week. I think the owners have tweaked the programme in some way as it's not playing in the way it used to. A lot of the players from all the teams in the league are having the same problem in that the timings seem to be a bit off.

Game runs until 8pm and barring a last-minute all-out assault we look to have tied up out 167th title.

Europe starts tomorrow but due to the way that game is structured it's normally quite difficult for us to make a real impact.

The 1st round runs from 10am tomorrow until 10am on Friday, but after that each round lasts only 2 hours and very few of our players can find the time to camp on the game during the day on a Friday. It's not impossible, but it does need more co-ordination and commitment than we can normally muster. Having said that, we did reach the semi-final about 3 weeks ago and we have won the EC twice before.

If anyone wants to have a serious try for the EC let me know and if there are enough of us interested and available we'll make plans to have a real go at it one of these weeks..
