Accounts manager - fluent in French, German and English.

A referee from a small country like Luxembourg will never get enough experience to be in charge of a Champions League match, or even become a FIFA badge holder. But Hamer got the chance to officiate matches in Belgium (a somewhat bigger country than Luxembourg) and especially in the French Ligue 1.

He is a UEFA Elite Category referee.

women

Although he was on the long list and he has a lot of experience, Alain Hamer was not one of the referees in Germany 2006. Still he has seen his share of World Championships: the one for women in 1995 (Sweden).

and

Other tournaments Hamer participated in were Euro U21 1998 (Romania), World Youth Championship 2001 (Argentina), 4th Official in Euro 2004 (Portugal), African Cup 2004 (Tunisia) and World Cup U17 2005 (Peru).

CL

In the years he has been a FIFA referee Alain Hamer is slowly working his way into the top ten of the referees who have officiated the most Champions League matches. There is a list on the RSSSF site. On that list Hamer is number 12.

fouls and cards

Alain Hamer has an exceptionally high card average and is known to whistle a lot, sometimes every 1.5 minutes. (see palmares and did-you-know section)

Alain Hamer (born 10 December 1965 in Luxembourg City) is a Luxembourgan football referee. He has refereed many matches in the UEFA Champions League, the first in 2000-01. He has also refereed a match in the African Cup of Nations and close to 30 matches in the French Ligue 1. He has been a FIFA referee since 1993.

This has the potential to go even more tits up for the SFA! Imagine if he gives a decision against them and then we get a favourable one?! We would never hear the end of it

or even the opposite way round, because either way the tims will use it enhance their paranioa about scots refs.

We're done for. :disappointment:

Since 1980 it has been illegal for the government to collect statistics on religious beliefs or practices.[30] An outdated estimation by the CIA Factbook for the year 2000 is that 87% of Luxembourgers are Catholics, including the royal family, the remaining 13% being made up of Muslims, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, Jews, and those of other or no religion.[31]
