Andrius Velicka

On-loan Rangers striker Andrius Velicka has been told he has no future at Aberdeen and is hoping for a switch to Swiss strugglers St Gallen.

The 31-year-old has played just five times for the Dons, and scored once, since arriving during the summer and has not featured since 11 December.

And boss Craig Brown said: "I believe he is off on Thursday to Switzerland and may get a contract there."

and people think smith is blameless with regards to this current financial shitehole we are in

Exactly. Almost £5m wasted on the likes of Lafferty, Velicka and Beattie, amongst others.

Velicka - £1m

Lafferty - £4m

Beattie £1m

Beasley - £750,00

Faye - 1 year loan and picked up wages for doing fuck all

Webster - £500,000

Carroll - Picked up wages for doing fuck all

Rothen - Loan and was a complete waste

And you could add Steven Whittaker (£2m) and Lee McCulloch (£2.25m) to that list.

Velicka, Beattie and Lafferty aye but the rest is just knit-picking. We've also made quite a bit of money from player sales e.g. Hutton, Cuellar, Cousin, pretty sure a million here and there for the likes of Sebo etc however we sold some players on the cheap as well.

Do we have anyone in a Damien Comolli type role or do we need one?

the rest arent nit picking though mate

think of the wages forked out to beasley, webster etc all this time

plus even smiths good signings came at the wrong time, we needed a midfield when smith bought strikers, then he spunked the rest on centre mids while we STILL have no left midfielder and are still realying on a 41 year old centre half that is slower than a week in the jail

between him and Beattie that couldve been 2.5 million that we could have used on Goodwillie or another actual decent striker. :anguish:

Hindsight is magic right enough. We could yet land Goodwillie and he could turn out to be another who fails to deliver.

No manager would knowingly sign a player they expect to fail.

So we could sign guys like, say, Ryan Babel or Alberto Aquilani?

Every club buys players that don't work out as expected. It's a risky business where past performance offers no guarantee as to what the future holds.

taking a gamble on a young lad with a decent record in his last few seasons is a worthwhile gamble

taking a gamble on an over 30 yo player with a shambolic scoring record is another thing

this time around Smiths transfer record is iffy at best, infact 2 of the most consistent performers in smiths second era werent brought here by him

In your opinion.

As I said - hindsight is fucking magic.

there's no hindsight about it

smith paniced and signed beattie cause he thought the jelavic deal was going tits up, thats the only explanation for the beattie signing

and to think kevin kyle went to hearts on a bosman signing,
