At Lingfield (3.15), SOMOUD showed plenty of speed at Sandown last time under a positive ride and has the draw to take advantage of that early pace if ridden in the same manner at Lingfield this afternoon. Drawn in stall 12 at Sandown, he was quickly across and into the lead, and kicked a couple of lengths clear at the furlong pole before being swallowed up in the final 100 yards, eventually finishing fifth. Drawn in stall eight of nine with an outsider to his outer, he should have a good chance of grabbing the rail here, and if so he'll be hard to peg back.

RYLEE MOOCH (Ayr 4.00) has been running consistently well of late and looks overpriced in a race where he ran really well at huge odds last year. After winning at Leicester in July under today's apprentice, he has shaped better than the bare result on his last two starts, catching the eye with a good effort on the wrong part of the track at Newmarket in the greys' race over 6f two outings ago (stayed towards the unfavoured far rail throughout), then chasing a strong pace at Haydock last time, sent for home along with Perfect Blossom (winner since) a long way out but swamped in the closing stages. He finished third in this race last year at 25-1, but was first home on the stands side on rain-softened ground and gives the impression that give in the ground helps at this trip. He's at the mercy of the draw again, of course, but definitely has a better chance than his odds suggest.

33s into 16s....
