Recommended Posts

Hi all

Early in the morning of April 12th, 2012, six Liverpool fans will start a 70-mile run from Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday, arriving at Anfield two days later on Saturday April 14th, just before the kick off of the game against Fulham. The run is in excess of 70 miles and will be split over two and half days, with 30 miles being run on successive days and the last 10+ miles run through the streets of Liverpool finishing at Anfield on the Saturday.

We welcome all reds and other football supporters to visit our website to find out more about our challenge : http://hillsborough-anfieldrun.co.uk/

We also have Facebook and Twitter pages if thats more your thing:

Where time allows, I will revisit the Rangers forum with updates as to how we are getting on, so please don't view this as a spamming episode, I am keen to spread the word via organic means as this cause is something very close to my heart.

Cheers guys

You should be seeing a lot of it in and around Liverpool soon.

We need donations - no matter how small, please help http://hillsborough-anfieldrun.co.uk/how-to-donate/

Finally. Believe it or not, on some non-LFC forums I have been visiting to spread the word, I am continually being asked why we are still continuing the fight for justice, why don't we just let it drop.. My response? Read this, maybe this will educate the ignorant http://hopeforhillsboroughjustice.wordpress.com/the-witnesses/

Good luck to you lads! JFT96. All football supporters should take an interest into the justice campaign. It is atrocious that over 20 years on, justice has still not been given to the poor souls who went to a match to support their team, never to return.

The Hillsborough-Anfield Run team all met up in Liverpool on Sunday 29th January

The morning went really well, done some filming for Granada Reports then made our way to Calderstones park to do some more with LFCTV (will be shown sometime w/c 6th February), it was only a little bit cold!! 1pm and it was time for our meeting, we found out that Steve Rotherham MP would be attending. Steve, as you may recall, opened a debate in the House of Commons calling for all papers related to the Hillsborough Disaster to be made public, and for prime minister David Cameron to issue an apology for events leading up to and following the disaster

It was a real honour to have Steve attend, and also attending was

- Margaret Aspinall and Sue Roberts from the Hillsborough Family Support Group (HFSG).

- Steve Kelly, Kenny Derbyshire and Debi Mcmillan from the Hillsborough Justice Campaign (HJC).

If we didn’t know before how important the run was, we sure did now! Moving forward we will all approach this in the most professional way and will look to raise as much money and awareness as is humanly possible for both groups and indeed the 96.

Donations at the time of writing are closing in on £700. Can we ask you guys to share our story on any blog, forum and website you have access to please, word of mouth is crucial to making sure we get as much support as we can.

Thanks all

Hi folks, less than 3 weeks to the off now.

Brief update from our last update:

We've had plenty of press, LFCTC and media coverage recently. There's also a preview of a documentary we're doing on the run: http://hillsborough-anfieldrun.co.uk/category/media/'>http://hillsborough-anfieldrun.co.uk/category/media/

Brilliant news - Sheffield Wednesday and Liverpool Football CLub are allowing us to start and finish the run on their respective pitches - no mean feat. The run will still be taking place, even though most of you lucky folks will be in London for the FA Cup Semi Final on April 14th. Liverpool has offered that the runners finish the run on the pitch at Anfield, a dream for any Liverpool fan. The run will get to Anfield at approximately 11.30AM on April 14th and Liverpool FC will open the stadium allowing the runners to break the tape on the half way line. There will then will be a half time presentation at the next home game, against West Bromwich Albion, on April 22nd. We thank Liverpool FC for all their help.

Donations now stand at near £4,000, including £44 we got for a signed Didi Hamann book that we recently auctioned on Ebay.

Please stop by our website. We'd love it if you clicked on our sponsors page, without whose help we wouldn't be a step closer to our goal. http://hillsborough-anfieldrun.co.uk/

Thanks all :-)

What do they do with the funds raised? Looking at their websites, I've never really been able to work out what they do with it.
