I hope this is true for the sake of the staff whose jobs are at risk.

But we can't just decide to take the Daily Rhebels story as gospel just because is happens to be positive this time.

You cant be a Rangers fan saying that!

That fucked up so called paper, why is it when they say negative things about us we are up in arms and say what a load of shite. Yet when they put a story in that appeals we are going overboard about it.

They start of by saying They understand............................... should bin it from there on in.

And think Ally should be concentrating on his work on the training ground and leave the other side if things to discussions with the administrators as and when they ask him for a meeting and then should be left for them to tell the press.

Ally tracksuit on get out and try and lift the players and get the team playing football.

RANGERS boss Ally McCoist and his top-team squad will today plead with administrators for the chance to foot the bill of keeping their football club intact.

McCoist has held a series of heart-to-heart talks with his shell-shocked players, and captain Steve Davis in particular, as the dressing room braces itself for the cost-cutting plans expected to be announced by London firm Duff and Phelps before the end of this week.

And Record Sport understands the manager and his players could attempt to safeguard jobs across the

club – from the tea ladies to the ticket office staff – by cutting thousands of pounds off their own wages instead.

The big-hearted plan will all hinge on the scale of the cutbacks required to mend the financial crisis which absent owner Craig Whyte has left behind during his disastrous reign.

If the damage is too severe not even McCoist and his players will be able to fix it on their own.

However, the Rangers manager believes there is a willingness among a majority of his men to sacrifice what they can for the cause.

This could mean accepting percentage deferrals on their pay packets, possibly for as long as it takes the club to come out of administration and get back on a stable financial footing.

And it would allow them to limp on together until the end of the current campaign without seeing some of their team-mates forced to face a firing squad.

It will be discussed further at Murray Park this morning before McCoist takes his players on to the training pitch to prepare for their next SPL match, away to Inverness Caley Thistle on Sunday.

But before they know how deep they will have to dig McCoist faces another crucial round of breakfast-time talks with Paul Clark of Duff and Phelps.

The Ibrox boss will ask the administrator to clearly define how much money needs to be sliced off the club's wage bill – and then

ask for the authority to

implement that himself. It would then be up to McCoist and his players to find a fair and equitable way of

shouldering the cost between themselves, with the biggest earners facing the most substantial cuts.

McCoist would only say last night: "From the meetings I've had with the players and with Steve Davis I can tell you the players are united.

"We all want to find a solution in the best interests of the club. I will speak again with the administrators and update the players."

A source close to the talks added: "There is a lot of talking to be done but Ally knows the best way to handle this is by keeping the players together and showing a united front.

"It would be far better for everyone to take a hit than for individuals to be tapped and the shoulder and taken away. That is the nightmare scenario and the lads are worried sick about it.

"The good news is that dressing room is full of guys who are Rangers fans and feel a sense of duty.

"They also realise there are other people around the club whose jobs are at risk. It's not just about the dressing room. There are many others whose hard work and dedication goes unseen.

"Without the support and help of these people it would have been impossible for the players to deliver success in the last few years. The players' attitude is at Rangers we are in it together.

"So if it's at all possible to make some kind of deal with the administrators then that would be the first option for Ally and the players. But it all comes down to just how much they need to cut."

Another crock of shit, percentage deferrals? not one quote were McCoist says anything about wages cuts ! craphead2.gif

Again, a fine sentiment from McCoist and the players, however, wage cuts until season's end, deferred or otherwise, will not be enough to bridge the huge chasm between income and outgoings. As harsh as it sounds, the administrators need to take action to balance the books, however painful that may be to individuals. Now if the players are willing to re-negotiate the terms of their contracts long-term, that would be a different matter altogether.

That is irrelevant to that gesture of the players though, which can at least give the impression of caring for the club at this time. The players willing to do that till the end of the season sends a signal to others, more wealthy, that if they do indeed have Rangers interests in their mind, well now is the time to stand up and be counted.

There must be something wrong with the matrix, the Daily Rhecord have been the most friendly paper to us since this all kicked off.

Anyway, an unbelievable gesture from Ally and the lads, but deep down no one will be surprised to hear that they're doing it. It's just the Rangers way, to pull together and do what we can to make sure everyone's okay.

Fullhouse singing for 90 minutes of a 1-0 a few days after entering administration, the players and manager offering (not being asked, offering!) to take a pay cut to save lower level jobs. This is why we're more than a club.

As ED put it, McCoist and the players should stick to their jobs and allow the administrators to do likewise. If they want to forgo a percentage of their wages, great. The acid test would be if we suggested that our high earners settle for new long-term contracts at £8k per week or similar. I don't think we would have any takers, and I wouldn't blame them either.

Does this suggest that all contracts are being re-written. IF the terms of their current contracts aren't met then Ally and the lads become creditors - solution, re-write the contracts, if contracts are up for grabs, this might suggest they know who is going etc already.

It is great in sentiment. But the fact of the matter we are partially in this mess by paying our players more than we could afford at the time.

If they really want to help they would re-write their contracts for reduced wages, instead of deffering them.

Exactly. We would see who really is committed to the club.
