ianb1547 3,776
Have you checked who sat on the SFA and the League back then.Apparently two guys called LieWell and Regan said the winners could claim the title so long as there was no blue in their strip, or a 'G' in their name
caseyjones 3,009
Where is the proof that Rangers made that decision. Q. was there a league competition during these years?Aberdeen and Hibs include trophies won and Celtic include goals scored. Rangers don't include either. If you have proof that this was all decided by the SFA and the SFL, and that Rangers just went along with it, show us now. There was a league competition in each year of WW II. caseyjones 3,009
Can it be included as a Wartime title? Teams had only played 2 game before the war had ended! It was also a full league as participation was from both the southern and northern teams! I dunno, but either way it's a strange one!Two games or twenty games, it was a wartime season. Life didn't just go back to normal overnight.

Ricky_ 893
I guess you could say its a 'mark of respect' to the remembering those who faught by adopting the attitude that nothing really counted during that time, whilst our countrymen were giving their lives on foreign fields.on the other hand though, if every team in the league willingly competed in scottish football, it doesnt change the fact the Rangers were once again champions another 7 times - this shouldn't be forgotten, but maybe we don't need to 'officially' recognise it, and certainly shouldn't be doing so just to wind them up. And also asked of you had proof re Rangers. No to both questions, but they don't have any relevance to what occurred.Just re-read the opening post again and noticed that it lists League Cup wins. The League Cup didn't start until 1946-47, and was won by Rangers. It was the Southern League Cup.
disgruntled_bear 157
The 16 team league set up that we won during the war, was just a league made up to try and keep morale up in Scotland at the time. Teams resigned from the 20 team league due to lack of players the year before. Some players that were left were switching teams depending who was short, just to keep the games going.Although it was given it's blessing by the SFL home secretary, no official govern body overseen the league. Hence why it's not recognized.

Loyal Bear 72 363
That's fair enough, doesn't explain why the SFL have the 45-46 season counted yet Rangers don't?According to the SFL site the war league finished the prior year 44-45. Other sources say 45-46 was still the war league and is not counted.Just seen disgruntled bears post. That explains it then. The SFL recognise it but the SFA don't. Like the fact that Aberdeen and Hibs include their league cups, although it was known as the 'southern league cup' at the time, as this was set up by the SFA! 1873bear 192
Why are they not officially counted anyway?? Is it because the majority of cowards from the east end fled back to the republic to help guide hitlers luftwaffe to attack our country? It would be great if our wartime history was officially recognised. scottylad72 19
Can't believe so many people want this. The only campaign should be to have other clubs not count their trophies won during wartime. You actually believe any of those clubs would except it? stevotrueblue 382
Nah no for me,, would appear not right,,, be better campaigning for them to be stripped of theirs for the BJK years,, I counted that at 7 lg titles,, and there is a morale duty in that. Don't know what the charge might be in relation to football,,, bringing the game into disrepute perhaps ???

ger50champ 300
I believe now is the right time to campaign to have the WW2 titles recognised, given that full participation took place with all the big teams and full seasons. There are a number of justifications: Full Seasons Full participation Aberdeen and Hibs quote their honours as official during this period - Rangers don't - this is key in the arguments Celtics WW1 titles stand - another injustice - in England WW1 titles are not countedActually 7 full leagues were played during WW21939-40Division 1 (this is only short campaign)Rangers 1st, Celtic 4th when it finishedFull CampaignRangers 1st, Celtic 13thWar cup - Rangers winners1940-41 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 5thLeague Cup - Rangers Winners1941-42 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 3rdLeague Cup - Rangers Winners1942-43 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 10thLeague Cup Winners - Rangers1943-44 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 2ndLeague Cup Winners - Hibs beat us 6-5 on corners, included in their honours1944-45 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 2ndLeague Cup Winners - Rangers1945-46 LeagueRangers 1st, Celtic 4thLeague Cup Winners - Aberdeen, included in their honoursThere seems no justification for these other clubs including honours and ours not standing, as well as Celtic including theirs for WW1.As well as winning 7 titles we also won 5 cups, 4 league cups and a war cup.In total we have been denied 12 trophies in total! With all the talk of us losing trophies - we should have these 12 included in our honours. Others have - Hibs and Aberdeen. The worst should be Celtic stripped of their WW1 titles but tbh it would be fairer just to include our 12. The main justification for taking their titles is that in England, these were suspended during WW1 - why should they have these. It's totally biased and wrong, not just morally but factually.Sporting integrity would demand that these titles should be added. If Aberdeen and Hibs include in their honours then there is no reason why we don't include in ours.Unveil the 6th star! :uk: :uk: :uk: 61 and counting.Rangers 8 Celtic 1.We welcome the chase.Superb post mate ,rep you later for that
