TheKingObv 10,860
He's turned it on for Argentina recently. 13 goals in a year, new Argentine record. Can see him having a fantastic 2014 World Cup.
JamieD 20,034
All he is missing is international glory.............I imagine he'd probably settle for being on the same level as Zico, Cruyff, Di Stefano etc.

He has been exceptional for his country recently. His detractors don't seem to realise it, but it's a mark of his greatness that they seem to expect nothing less than him single-handedly winning a world cup. Which is something that no player has ever done.

TheKingObv 10,860
I'd have Argentina as joint favourites along with Spain and Brazil. They will defnitely go far, and Messi will have an amazing world cup.

Bochini, Burruchaga and Valdano were all fantastic players, and Burruchaga and Valdano in particular had outstanding tournaments, and the rest of the team was perfectly solid too.An enduring myth, but still a myth.
