Here's a thought!

Recommended Posts

Seems Walter smith and Ally McCoist don't like change.

They don't and Ally is continuing in everything, training, tactics, USA preseason??

I can understand that Walter's thoughts would be to keep going in that mould but he was in SPL with Laudrup etc. We need to have a long term plan where development is king, fresh, modern approach to tactics and a willingness to learn from others

We are all Rangers supporters on here(I hope) business men of good standing like yourself have valid points to make on this site, but for anybody to suggest you should have a role in running Rangers is being a bit disingenuous, the same with the Electrician.

Great post though...

I'm curious how a player with 'no desirable assets' can represent France at u17,u18, u19 & u20 and come through the youth system at a club like Lyon.

If you were businessman of the year ten years ago, it doesnt mean you will be this year?

If he was of quality, Lyon would not have dumped and having watched all his games since arriving, I have seen nothing to suggest he is worth keeping, but thats just my opinion and its cool if you dont agree!!!

Faure has probably suffered from a bad start to his career at Rangers

He did show signs he could be a much better player towards the end of the season

faure looks very badly out of shape as do a few of our players, would be very interested to know how much work is done on physical conditioning at our club on a weekly basis

Whilst being businessman of the year ten years ago wouldn't make me a shoo in for this year it would tend to indicate I have some strong credentials as a businessman and have certainly shown in the past that I have 'desirable assets' as a businessman.

He might not be good enough for Lyon but then we aren't playing in a league with players the quality of Ibrahimovic etc,.

As a business man and season ticket holder for 26?yesrs I disagree with about 50% of what you have written. - On phone so i will kee rebutal short - i agree patience is needed and we need Europe football to get back - as a business man you probably recognise that specialists in Their field know more than you so you hire them to fix / run deparents using there skill - so I disagree with your assemeny of ally - that is like hiring an accountant and then redoing your work - basically the who ally football side of your 'plan' sounds just like a fan who always knows better - Ally has a good pedigree - Walter great experience - let the football people deal with who to sign and not sign - under your plan the chairman is picking the team (like Romanov at hearts!!) as a business man you agree and set targets for your departments and if they fail you replace - but Ally has not failed he has delivered so should stay !

As a business man, season ticket holder and shareholder agree 100 %

I have never understood why morning AND afternoon training sessions are not compulsory even if one session is devoted to developing basic skills and techniques rather than fitness training

Thats a huge issue in my book, maybe the first move might be a "Jock Wallace" preseason!!

Is this like the 'Charlie Adam is really fat' nonsense that we used to read after every game he played for us?

I have seen many businessmen who were successful years ago, they are now either self employed consultants (unemployed) or unemployed, so it does happen. You are right tho about not facing Ibrahimovic but this guy consistently struggles against Div3 standard players.

Is it coincidence that both Champions League finalists reportedly have double session most weeks, working on tactics etc, not just physical?

at the end of the day football is survival of the fittest,it is blatantly obvious our team are unfit, could you explain why game after game part time players are over running us in the last 20 minutes ?

Big Jock wouldn't believe the condition of some of our current squad!

Hegarty and Black would be two of the first out the door if I had my way. Totally disagree with the Alexander comment as well.

If Alexander is too expensive, what about the likes of McCulloch, Black, Shiels etc?

Outside that there is many good points throughout the post.

Thanks, just my opinion, not fact!

My problem with Hegarty is that although he has something, he's not a CB or a RB, so where do you play him.

I understand current frustration with Black but he should keep his mouth shut and maybe would avoid being targetted, he showed more at Hearts and I just think he is worth another season to recapture that form before deciding whether he stays or not.

McCulloch is captain and has held us together at times this season and probably next season will be his last (Blacks as well, comments above),

Shiels needs a run to prove worth, lets look at that next summer????

Alexander - we seem to have signed (haven't we) a younger, better and cheaper goalie, if we do that with the others you mention, I am happy!!

Good Points in the OP but I think this statement is fundamental. Clearly it doesn't matter what your pedigree, your training or experience in similar roles - Nothing can prepare you for being a Ranger. Player, Manager, CEO, all the same expectations with extra helpings of abuse.

We assume our MP Kids can carry these burdens alone or that every Tom, Dick and Harry player can step right in and rise to the mental challenge. If we get off these People's backs for a wee while and cut them the slack to flourish, then we can move forward with greater success.

your spot on,it is bang out of order there is no excuse for lack of fitness, how a professional can train 5 days a week and be so obviously out of shape is a shocking lack of professionalism .

Will respond, so get off the phone :000000082:

Disagreeing is allowed outside SPL and North Korea

I don't say anywhere that I know better than Ally, what I do say is that we need a change of direction and should be hiring personnel who are capable of delivering it.

I will agree to disagree on Ally's record as a manager, as a blue nose who should stay at Rangers in some post, no problem

still on phone :pipe: but you list what to do with each player - is that not saying what the manager should do ? ditto Murray park - it's only your opinion it has under performed - I think it has done well !

can every department improve - absolutely - but sometime you just have to put your trust in the people you have and recognise the good job they are doing! I think I would look for stability and build from their incrementally as ther are no magic short term solutions ! ( even with a rich sugar daddy)

Offering opinions that are different to the current regime, if made in the correct way, is healthy! When players are scouted the club looks at the football side and the personal/family/mental side in addition to listening to others who know the player, if we are doing that then we increase the probability of that player being a success. With some of the current squad, I wonder if we even scouted them??

"Moving forward with greater success" will be hastened if we remain open to new ideas, change with the times and remain positive!!
