A veteran comedian has been banned from Forfar Athletic’s ground after he allegedly slammed the state of the pitch.

Forfar Athletic chairman Alistair Donald failed to see the funny side of Andy Cameron’s reported comments at the weekend.

The entertainer was at Station Park on Sunday to cheer Rangers on to a 1 - 0 win over the Angus side.

But the Loons chairman was angered when Mr Cameron reportedly called the stadium “poxy” and criticised the home facilities. Mr Donald later revealed that he has banned the comedian from returning to the ground in future.

Forfar’s chairman used social media to vent his frustration, blasting the Take the High Road star in a series of tweets.

The chairman fumed: “Apparently our ground is ‘poxy’ with no dugouts” and branded Cameron a “nondescript wee comedian full of irrelevant opinion”.

He also targeted the 73-year-old with a tweet that read: “Too many comedians with an opinion on 3G pitches #sticktobeingapunkrocker”.

It is claimed Mr Cameron made the comments in the boardroom after the full-time whistle. The funnyman allegedly criticised Station Park’s artificial playing surface and the stadium’s seating.

Forfar’s chairman hit back by telling Mr Cameron he was a “poor comedian”.

And Mr Donald finished by telling the well-known Rangers fan that he would not be welcome back at Station Park.

Twitter users later quizzed Mr Donald about whether Mr Cameron had been shown the red card for his comments.

One asked: “Hi Alistair, is it true you banned Andy Cameron from Station Park after he criticised the condition of the playing surface?”

Mr Donald’s reply simply said “yes”, and he gave the same response to another tweet which asked: “Did Andy get banned today chairman?”

Mr Cameron later denied criticising Station Park, saying “I’ve got nothing against the pitch — I didn’t slag off anything.”

The comedian was unavailable for further comment today.

Forfar’s “3G” pitch was installed last year at a cost of £325,000.

Saw him at a dinner 4 months into Paul Le Guen time... some decent looking old bird in a spangly dress with her puppies on display was at one of the front tables.

AC's best line is, "Christ I cannae concentrate here because of your chest hen... It's like what I've been looking at on the pitch every game so far this season."

Taxi for Cameron.
