TheLawMan 6,240
Poland just showed the way to do it. 3 men outside the box and within 10 seconds of an England corner, should have scored.
scarkev 3,540
It's so simple....keep at least 1 (preferably more) pacy players up the park.....it gives you an outball to relieve pressure and the opportunity to counter attack quickly....overloading the box t defend creates more issues than it solves! Jimfanciesthedude 25,030
even if the guy outside the box doesnt get near the clearance, at least he's not in the box making it harder for your centre halves to go and attack the corner, id rather my centre halves only had 3 bodies to barge past instead of 5 or
OlegKuznetsov 10,816
The corners can't be changed much as they support the roof for each of the stands.Oh!

I'm fairly confident the way it should be done doesn't include 'should have scored' but aye..

There is no better way of taking pressure off yourself than 3 men sprinting up the park with the ball nearly scoring. They nearly done it for a second time as well. Its such a simple tactic. BlueThunder 8,454
Did Iran not score against the USA with the tactic of having two men right on the halfway line at corners?

RancidCutlass 190
I think stats backed up our decision to have everyone back.Particulary in the Smith era. When youre defending a corner the priority is not to lose a goal.

dummiesoot 16,119
Are you sure Walter never left a man up front?Very rarely I remember complaining frequently on here about it.
RancidCutlass 190
Do you have the counter stats ? Not to hand but coincidentally Kenny Dalgleish' son and daughter are discussing this on twitter (football in general) and Marcotti pointed them in the direction of a guy called Chris Anderson has actually written a book about it. harlands plater 17,065
Are you sure Walter never left a man up front? On the run to Manchester he hardly left a man up front at our corners.
1st_Jan_1994 4,868
I genuinely wouldn't mind 11 men in the box at corners and set pieces provided we didn't give away the amount of free headers etc that we doIn saying that, our defensive record has been good this season so can't complain
TheCutch 4,340
At Ayr last week for one of the corners we left Temps outside the box, albeit not far outside. The ball broke his way and within 15 seconds Wallace had a great chance to score.Even just that one man left up the park a bit caused the opposition problems.
