Laptop help

Recommended Posts

Since last night I've noticed that every time I start up my laptop I'm getting a pop up saying 'failed to connect to a windows service' at the bottom right of the screen. I've also been unable to open Google Chrome since getting this message (assume this is linked to the error?) and I'm having to rely on Internet Explorer, which seems to freeze quite a lot. I'm using Windows 8. Any ideas on how to sort this?

try this.

Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, press ENTER.

> Search for service named Windows all user install agent service.

> Windows all user install agent service should be manual.

> Check if it is started, if not Right click on the service and click on Start.

Tried this mate and then restarted my laptop, still getting the same problem. Any other suggestions?

Start in safe mode.

Log on as administrator

Press Windows Key + R, type "cmd", press ENTER.

Type in - "netsh winsock reset" press enter

Then Restart your computer

That will reset everything related to your network adapter.

If this doesn't work i'm all out of ideas for tonight.

Seem to have sorted it, read a few people online saying that a forced shut down solves it. Probably not the most effective way of doing it but it seems to have worked. If the problem creeps up again I will definitely try this mate.

Funnily enough, the problem seemed to show up after I had to do a forced shut down the other day when my screen froze so this must have cancelled it out. I'm clueless when it comes to these things so fuck knows.

Cheers for the help anyway. (tu)
