trublusince1982 768
So we go back to the Martin Bain days when he was pleased that our player budget was ONLY around 90% of our income. We shouldn't have had anything more than 30% for the last two seasons but we did and look at the mess it's left us in.This post proves beyond doubt that many fans simply don't have a grasp of the financial realities of playing football in Scotland.why should our club be funded less than every other team?if that is the mentality then why not always aim for second place? there is no financial benifit in beating celtic. only get an extramil in prize money should still get a shot at europe. thats what wilj happen. think there wage budget is £24m ourp is between 6-7m
there'sonlyoneamoruso 1,724
Stuff like this without quotes/ source is just fans bumping their gums and we have a lot of threads like that - threads that misinterpret what Ally says in particularBut it wasn't critical of him - you just jumped in.Anyway, what Ally said in the interview was fair enough; if the DoF/CFOO isn't implemented correctly it will be a disaster. If it is then it should help streamline things.
Sweetheart 8,458
I think the CFOO position was created to help Ally finish his managerial training, If i'm right, I see them jointly signing the cheques for new players.

By his own admission we were just looking for bodies.

trublusince1982 768
Going by thisAll of them were.think your stretching that a bit. Think daly was his along with perelta not sure on the rest.Moshni was a recomendation but not sure if that was recommendation to club then followed up by mccoist or vice versa.Think mccoist may have had final say but he had to pick from the selected bunch then when it got close to window closing he was informed that was it pick from them or nothing time.mathers brought some of the players from his agency that was the whole point of him being put incharge of murray park even though it was short lived. Some of the youth where punted on principle he brought cause it put some noses out of joint. they wanted to do an exclusive deal where all our players would be sourced by an agency on our behalf who would then get cuts on player image rights and sell on clauses dependant on deals agreed between player and club. Thats why we got rid of scouting it wasnt just to save money it was to intice the £1m investment from mathers

Jimfanciesthedude 24,607
Are there actually that many examples of a DOF like role working in the UK?WBA & Reading aside, I'm struggling to think of one.Liverpool dont have a DoF as such, but there are 4 people that work in tandem (including rodgers) when it comes to whats needed for the squad, what positions etc, scouting, negotiating, basically from the time the board sanction a new signing or signings until the player signs the contract, 4 people work together,
elephants stoned 2,994
I think we are all agreed if the CFOO works well with the manager whoever they both may be, it will be a worthy experiment but if Ally or any future manager cant or wont adjust to the new set up there will be big problems ahead. Fan Ownership 101
Ally has persistently stated the nature of his job only allows him to focus on the next game.Well, I'm sorry, by his own admission then, we need someone else to take care of the long-term goals of the Club. Whilst Ally might have learned his trade as assistant to Walter - we were an absolute shambles at the time, with as much foresight as we do now. If that's Ally's utopian view of Rangers then he's already admitted he can't be the manager of the Club.He can't decide he's club manager one week then cry about not understanding budgets the next. You are either manager of the football club (entailing far more than winning on a Saturday) or you're in charge of the first team. Ally refuses to consider the long-term interests of the Club, therefore, we need a Director of Football.
Crespie6 334
No instead the fans pay to piss and whine about almost every aspect of our club. I keep seeing it said that football is 'entertainment'. Can you name any other form of entertainment where 'customers' complain incessantly about the product but continue to pour money in?The club don't pay McCoist 825k either...http://www.rangers.co.uk/images/staticcontent/documents/AnnualReport2013.pdfpage 45 of 48. Crespie6 334
That was for 13 monthsI know that. I didn't think it was necessary for my to state it was not an annualized figure as we are dealing with amounts that are ridiculously high. But yeah focus on the fact it's not exactly 825, but maybe 760 k. The guy shouldn't be getting even a fifth of that.
