Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness today accused Premier League clubs of 'milking their fans like cows' in charging high prices for season tickets.

Explaining his decision to keep season tickets at Bayern lower than their counterparts across Europe, Hoeness said: "We could charge more than 130 (£104). Let's say we charged 380 (£300). We'd get 2.5m (£2m) more in income, but what's 2.5m to us?"

"In a transfer discussion you argue about the sum for five minutes. But the difference between 130 and 380 is huge for the fans."

"We do not think fans are like cows, who you milk. Football has got to be for everybody."

"That's the biggest difference between us and England."

Arsenal's cheapest season ticket for the upcoming season costs £985 (with the most expensive ticket costing a whopping £1,955), while Liverpool's cost £710, and Chelsea's is £595.

Jack Sullivan, son of West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, has hinted that the club plan to offer significantly cheaper season tickets once the club move into the Olympic Stadium in time for the 2016-17 Premier League season.

Retweeting Hoeness' comments, Sullivan said: "That's the hope at the OS [Olympic Stadium] give family's affordable football. Cheap ST [season tickets]."

Yep, a hundred grand a week isn't enough for more and more footballers now.

The greed being manufactured by the EPL is sickening and fans are treated like garbage at every turn. Ticket prices are a scandal and buying merchandise / kits etc is ridiculous. I was paying around 75 quid for a seven year olds football kit?

And now sky are increasing their costs again by £3.00 or so? Surprise surprise, all to pay greedy bastard average footballers and managers thousands more per week. I hope the arse falls out of the EPL some day.

This is from like 2 years ago. Hoeness isn't President anymore.

But yeah what he said is true, however that only applies to teams that can bring in the same kind of revenue as Bayern do from merchandise and sponsorships. That does apply to teams like Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

Out of interest, how do players wages in the Bundesliga compare to the Premiership?

Top Bayern players (Robben, Gotze, Schweinsteiger, Lewandowski, Ribery) will be on about 9-11m euros a year. About £150k a week at most. No other clubs will compete with that. Dortmund won't have anyone over 5/6m euros a year, Wolfsburg probably paid similar/bit less to Gustavo and Schurrle. Huntelaar may be on similar for Schalke. Everyone else will be on less.

When you look at Scottish prices for season tickets it makes the English prices seem cheap considering the difference in football on show.

Really though i think both Rangers and Celtic will need to go Bundesliga prices if we want full stadiums again.

Scottish prices are a joke.
