Les Munro - A Bear?

I have just read an obituary to Les Munro, the last surviving Dambusters pilot, who has died in his native New Zealand. However, what caught my eye was the heading - "With the Angels I'll be Singing...Follow, Follow to the Rangers That I Love". To me this is pretty clear cut but can anyone confirm that this real hero was a Bear. If not, to me will be an honorary Bear for his sheer courage.

Its a Facebook page for Rangers fans and players that have passed on and someone has added this with no context as to his being a Bear. A hero and, by all accounts a very humble and unassuming, like so many of his ilk.

Funnily enough he was squadron leader of 1690 BDTF Squadron so he qualifies as an honorary bear on that alone...
