Not sure that that is a result of their famine mate - that is a result of migration to the New World - and not those with a shortage of vitamin c. How many potato enthusiasts sought refuge in Scotland, 40,000, 50,000? The Yanks wouldn't even have noticed an extra 50k.
standup 829
Just there on the 10 am news. We invaded the pitch at Hampden along with hivs fans and we were beaten 5-1 by beast in the last game. And Police will be arresting anybody attempting to go to the match.

Prior to that the Protestant Ulster Scots were the ones that made the journey and we're genuine frontiersmen and pioneers. The famine victims tended to stay near the port they landed at. See New York and Boston for examples (and closer to home Liverpool and Glasgow).

The Ulster Scots or Scots Irish , whatever takes your fancy were the first influx and predominantly protestant. So many Americans are ignorant that when they claim Irish ancestry that many are through the first wave and not the second one a hundred years later due to the famine. It has been estimated that the Scots diaspora is actually nearer 25 million in the US rather than 4 to 8 million due to many not correctly identifying their roots.Masons and Presbyterians set up and ran America in those days. All the Ivy League universities where Protestant (Princeton,Harvard,Yale etc..).The southern states became a mini-clan world bringing the fiddle music and community feel ie.
