lot of pish, in scotland it gets you title winning players, that has been proven over the years, even in our darkest financial timespre whyte we were still paying players well over 10 grand a week to come here, our last title winningteam had guys pushing 20 grand

6 grand a week gets you garner, 14grand a week gets you griffiths, who wins you titles?

Griffiths was on garner money when he first signed for them. He's had two improved contracts over time there.

Regardlss it's embarrassing we are where we are in the table and getting turned over by teams like Motherwell, Dundee and Hivs. We are literally pissing money away. You give a competent board and manager those kind of advantages over 99% of the leagu and you comfortably finish second at worst. We are a million miles away from it

griffiths came from hibs thats why, my point is you pay 14 grand a week for players that win you tight games, you pay 6 grand a week for jobbers

as i said weeks ago pedros results so far having rebuilt the squad werent as bad as people thought, sure we were guff at times but we were the one old firm game away from joint top, if we'd won at ibrox we'd have been top, i still say if pedro wasnt sacked we'd have taken 9 points from the last 4 games minimum

fact is we simply cannot take a chance on small time players and hope they come good, we need to spend more on wages for big time players to bridge the gap asap, paying a player 6 grand and hoping he comes good then bumping his wage up is a gamble we cannot have, we need to be getting in guys ready for the league on bigger money, guys that can win you tight games with a touch of magic

Pedro was fucking gash, sorry but he broke records for all the wrong reasons. He got us punted out of Europe...our only hope of making some money to some mid table Luxenburg shite. He spent most of our budget on a fat Mexican and his tall pal who when jumping looks the height of Rossiter.

Pedro was stinking Jim, utterly stinking. Fact is we are spending FAR more than all but one side yet we are getting turned over and embarrassed ever other week by those team.

its nothing to do with not being able to pay someone 14K a week. It's a god send we aren't able to because the 6k players we bring in get out performed by those on less than half. We couldn't spot a player at a El Clasico

What we don't get is value for money. We have to pay a premium just for being Rangers. By how much is another matter.

The scum also pay a premium for who they get, but they get better value for money because they win things which brings in additional investment in sponsorship etc and they themselves can charge a premium for doing so as they are winners. Their 90mil turnover bears testament to that.

The gap between 6k and 14k in wages is so big that it is indeed buying them success and even with a shit manager in Ronnie bhoy they still won the league. They now have a decent manager and he is defo getting the best out of them as the results show.

The arguement is, if we get in a better calibre of manager, will it improve these players? Probably yes, but by how much is the million dollar question. Or are our players just so bereft of ability there is no improving them? Many of our squad have played under 3 managers now, so is there a subliminal message there?

If we bench marked our players against every other player of their position in every other team in the league,  where would would they rank? First or twelfth or somewhere in between and where they each end up would that be indicative of where our league position would be?

IMO, what we do know, that neither individually or collectively (step in a good manager on that point), we are just not very good.

We currently sit fourth and for me, based on player ability, that's probably where we are at.

I think the premium we are paying for some players is too much - Alves and Pena spring to mind

at least 2 other managers got us punted out of europe and much needed income off of european jobbers, and the other 2 had a MUCH better squad, but thats besides the point, regarding wages it doesnt matter what gaffer we bring in EVER, if we scour around the PE dept jakey box while the tarriers shop at M$S we'll never catch up

the difference between a 3 grand a week and 6 grand a week player isnt much, the difference between a 6 grand and a 12 grand is way bigger, especially in scottish football

you havetremember as well mate, if they figuresare right, then the likes of ours will be skewed by players on big wages, alves, dorrans and anyone else on over 10 grand a week, but look at the team that lost to dundee

the back 4 and keeper probably lucky to break 20 grand a week combined
the midfield 4 probably the same, maybe around the 16k mark
miller and morelos, say what 12 grand a week between the pair of them

so around 48 grand a week wages for that team against dundee, even if you add another 10% on that because im being too conservative regarding their wages, thats still 53 grand a week for the starting 11

compare that to the last time we won the league

back 4 and keeper, easily 50 grand a week minimum
midfield 4 say 45 grand give or take
front 2 easily 30 grand a week minimum

125 grand a week give or take, over 2x what we are paying the now (if anyones interested im using figures from the same place as the wage report used earlier in the thread, guessing based on the players and value at the time etc)

another note, walters last season, 30 wins, 13 of them were by 1solitary goal, tight games where a bit of magic or some top class defending wins you the game, we will never have players like that paying peanuts (in relative terms)

If you take Rangers out of the equation, celtic's annual salary is about the same as ALL the other clubs put together.

We need to get a few players out of the club, to lessen our annual salary, or better still, to bring in players who are worth the money they get paid.
