Popular Post govanblue 16,847
For more information on what the RM Erskine Fund is about, and for details on how YOU can contribute, please check out this Season's Official Thread... It’s been a while since I gave any detailed updates on Fund Activity, so here is a rundown of what we’ve been up to already this season. You may remember that we ended last season with a triumphant Champion’s League Final Night at Ibrox, with Erskine winning the Star Prize… And then it was straight back to business, for Season 2019/20, with the biggest expense of the season – 10 Season Tickets for Erskine and Combat Stress - £2568. Then a wee donation of £55.56 towards @DerekJohnstone‘s own Fundraising efforts for Army Benevolent Fund in the Caterham Yomp. I’m sure @DerekJohnstone appreciated the contribution, and will be along soon to encourage everyone to take part again this year. (tip: if you want to take part, you can do the 54 miles, or alternatively just stick a couple of quid in his collection – whichever is easiest!) Next up we received £270 from the Erskine Veteran Bears themselves. Isn’t it great that the Erskine Bears themselves are keen to get involved in our Fundraisers. They know a good scheme when they see one! Then we had the friendlies in July – 10 Concession tickets for each of the 4 games (Oxford United £32, Cheating Marseille £72, Blackburn Rovers £88, Derby County £72) Next up, 10 concessions for the Europa Qualifiers I and II, against St. Joseph’s £72, and Progres Niederkorn £96. And the Progres game also saw the return of our £40 per game for 20 Rising Stars All New Union JackPot Half Time Draw. Next up, 10 concession tickets for Europa round 3 v FC Midtjylland £120. Plus £40 Union JackPot tickets. Then 10 concession tickets for Europa round 4 v Legia Warsaw £120. Plus £40 Union JackPot tickets. Then £110 to Rangers Lotto, to renew our 11 weekly entries for the next 10 weeks. (We’ll need to pay another £440 to Rangers Lotto soon, assuming that we want to keep that subscription going for the remainder of the Rangers Lotto Year.) Then some Union JackPot tickets for the first 2 Home League games - £80 And then last week we had a biggie – 10 concession seats for the 3 Europa group games, which came to a whopping £600. But worth it, because our Veterans really do love those European nights. Reminds them of Normandy! Last Tuesday saw another Squad of Erskine Veterans descending upon Ibrox for a Stadium Tour and Argyle Restaurant Lunch. We’ll hopefully get a full report, including photos, from Erskine soon. The Stadium Tour tickets, as always, were donated free by Rangers Charity Foundation, so we only needed to pay for the 11 3-course meals and 11 pints, plus our customary tip for the restaurant staff and tour guide. That was £210 in total. Oh yes, we donated £500 to BRAVEHOUND last week. We’re big fans of BRAVEHOUND. How much does that all add up to? Gimme a minute… It’s about £3000. Luckily we already had a few quid in reserve to pay for most of that, but it left us effectively skint. Luckily, the new season fundraiser finally appeared, and so far we’ve raised £1754.58 from 74 Members in the last 2 weeks. Plus £236 from raffling @Sparkle ‘s tickets for a recent home game. And with 23 Members pledged to donate in the next month or so, that should raise another couple of hundred. So next up, if we want to continue to do good things, then we need lots of new Members to donate, otherwise we’ll run out of funds before we get to our mid-season top-up fundraiser. We’ve got Remembrance Day, and Christmas not that far away, plus I hear Erskine would be partial to another Stadium Tour! So if you’ve not already donated this season, please do so, and if you have already donated this season, please hijack all the other threads and encourage others to donate too. Popular Post Bears r us 30,798
So much good work done by RM for people who have done so much for us all in their lives. As I said in the main Erskine thread many had had a heavy time paying for their own tickets, but I am sure next month will see more pledging and donating again. What would be great as GB says, is if all Erskine members could invite any new RM members who join up to be made aware of the Erskine/Bravehound work that is being done. Woo Hoo, a wee mention in despatches moment. 😏 Well done GB and Team for their hard work. Trust me I know how hard it is raising money, the 54 mile hike is easier in comparison. dougie76, Zetland and Bears r us
