Injury thread suggestion

Knocks and niggles that keep guys out for 1-2-3wks happen. That's football and we can't do much about it. I'm not so annoyed about these types of injuries and don't think we suffer them any more than other clubs.

However, we do seem to get more longer term injuries than most clubs. Guys that have had a longer term injury either then seem to never get back fit again, it just becomes injury after injury or recovery takes a lot longer than expected.

It has been a chronic problem too dating back 15+ yrs.

Cantwell was hurt in a tackle, I don’t think we can really use injuries as a result of a tackle to have a go at our medical department.

Thought there was an interesting line in the pre-match presser where Clement talked about giving players individual workouts to strengthen muscles they weren’t using during the game / training.

Wonder if he is of the opinion something all the lines that our strength and conditioning work has been too focussed on certain criteria (i.e. top sprinting speed or stamina) and as a result we lack an all round strength that could help a players body absorb some of the knocks that we pick up.

Obviously there are always going some injuries that are going to happen but we seem to pick up an abnormal amount of injuries from contact during the game vs general muscle pulls that you would normally expect.

In general there is far too many games for clubs and players to handle. Especially teams who are playing in Europe….. After the winter break there will be loads more. For example we play 3 games in 7 days…. The winter break is a joke. Too many games condensed into a too short a period is not sustainable for most clubs.
