  1. Objective of this game 1) Win 2) At least equal the winning margin of Celtic We have to beat Celtic to win the league, so assuming we do so the goal difference is effectively -3 on them (assuming a 1 goal victory). We definitely need to be keeping an eye on that.
  2. I wouldn't sign Shankland now. Wanting Shankland in was very much a product of the circumstances of the time. We needed somebody in January to come in, understand the league, understand the job required and - most importantly - have the best possible chance of hitting the ground running. Shankland and maybe Miovski were the only 2 players who fitted that mould, and IMHO Shankland was most likely to fulfill that role. Lack of goal threat, due to injury and personnel has been maybe the main reason we look to have blown the league. Dessers being unreliable and having no serious competition is part of that. However, time moves on and the Shankland ship has sailed. We don't need him now. Given it is a summer window, and we have the luxury of some time with going into a new season - there will be better options out there, and for better value.
  3. The first goal just further adds to the mystery of the enigma that is Dessers. Dessers has spent most of his Rangers career looking like the type of journeyman that rocks up at St Johnstone or Ross County, but there is no denying that there have been some bits of brilliance in amongst a lot of average.
  4. We need to break up the leadership/senior group in the squad. They've had their chances. Getting rid of all of them is unrealistic, but as a start we either keep Tav or Goldson, but not both. There are a few other senior players I'd move on to and start again building a group with leadership. In any team, be it in sport, work, etc - there's a mix of personalities and abilities. When it comes to the senior group (but to necessarily the manager) some can lead by example, others can lead by being no nonsense, others inspire, etc. However these are the guys you look to drag the folk that maybe aren't naturally positive, are a bit quieter, or aren't ruthless winners along with them - I've seen enough evidence over enough time to say that don't think our playing squad has that in the senior positions. I've played enough sport and worked in enough teams to know the difference a good leadership/senior group makes, and seen how toxic cliques, weakness, comfort zones, etc, etc can be. When rot like that has set in, the only remedy is to remove it.
  5. He's has had a lot of injuries lately and is in his 30s. I don't think he is a bad player, definitely can add something to the squad, but he is miles off the pace.
  6. I just find it baffling that we are on for a treble, were favourites to win the league, and....the belief just dies with the finish line in site. I cannot understand how enough people in the team - people who have had the discipline and drive to make it in professional sport - can collectively lose that drive. I cannot comprehend that. What we've witnessed isn't even what I'd call "bottling it". It's something deeper and more rotten.
  7. I cannot understand the performance drop. I've been involved in title challenges at amatuer level both as a player and as a organiser and well..... Once you were at the business end and had a sniff of winning - it was easy to run a team. Mood was great, everyone was willing, everyone tried, etc. Sure the performance would drop off if the challenge died, but until that point..... I know it's amatuer level, but surely it scales up to the pro ranks? Chance to win a treble and become legends? Our drop off is bizarre. Against Ross County it was like guys downed tools and stopped caring. I cannot understand why that would even happen with so much at stake - even if the players hated Clement.
  8. Silva has the technical attributes. He probably has one of the best touches in the league. However, much like Lammers, it's that word again - effectiveness. For all the nice touches, wee dribbles, turns, etc..... what does he actually do? He does good stuff then turns or runs into trouble. His movement is suspect, and decision making even more. He often doesn't move the ball on anywhere near quick enough. He's a player where it will suddenly click and will go onto a good career or...... will fade to obscurity (bets on the latter) What I'd give for a Fashion Sakala with more ability. Somebody willing to be on the deck and direct.
  9. I'm also unconvinced but he is the best available in attack atm. To be fair to him, he's been out for a while and been thrown into a role as being an absolutely key player due to our utterly dire attacking options. We needed him to come back to his November/December form immediately after 3.5mths injured.
  10. It's not Dessers fault for the predicament, but £4m for Shankland wouldn't seem such bad business now. Failure to sign a striker is what has cost us the league.
  11. Skill isn't Lammers problem. He has footballing talent. But as said before..... A nice turn, a good touch, beating a man is all very well.......... But you need to do something with it. Lammers was utterly ineffective. Made the wrong choices and undid any good work he did. Maybe in Holland he has that wee bit more space and a wee bit more time to think. Who knows. He was useless in Scotland.
  12. Absolutely nothing in Lammers history suggests he was ever going to score much. The fact some are thinking he could have been the solution to our striker problems shows how bad we are up top. Lammers had ample chance at Rangers. A few flashy touches and turns (which produced little) aside - he was bad.
  13. Sad to see the passing of Willie Limond. A good domestic/European level fighter in his day and was never a gimmie fight. Competitive, even in his losses. His fight with Khan was the first warning signs that Khan wasn't going to be the generational talent many thought he was going to be (although still a good world championship level boxer).
