I watched Souttar tonight play in a deep line, much deeper than normal due to the opposition for Scotland, and be very impressive.

I then look at Propper's pace and how they both played against Malmo and again wonder why don't we play a deeper line.

I'm not saying back to the walls against the likes of St Johnstone and Kilmarnock but just reign this press in a little bit. Be willing to soak up a little pressure and defend in real blocks.

Everything defensively is so scatter gun and mishapen. We get away with it against St Johnstone and Hibs but not against celtic and Lyon.

we cant play like that because our captain is fuckin pish, hes never where hes supposed to be and even when he is he stops nothing coming into the box, we basically play with 3 defenders with Souttar having to cover right centre and right back.

Load of shite.

We have better individual quality than the rest of the league outwidth celtic and to succeed here all you’ve to do is beat the rest and manage to win a couple of old firms.

The coaching of our squad is entirely at fault for how absolutely shite we look. Bringing Kieran Dowell on for Lawrence against Lyon when you’ve other attacking options on the bench and waiting until you’re 4-1 down to address the glaring issue that was Tav against Fofana ffs. We look dreadful against literally everyone we play with the exception of a once in a blue moon performance like against Ross County or Malmo

Hes a clown

Oooooft I was in a mood of trying to hope for the best about Clement and this is harshly true

I wouldn't be playing Tav at all right now and I certainly would be playing him in a deeper line at this point. You have Sterling and Kasanwijro who are better defenders (from what I've seen of the latter so far). I'd even consider Balogun at right back in that type of system over Tav.

At this point I'd shut down our whole right side with Kasanwijro at RB, Sterling at RM and Barron at RCM with our left side being the creativity coming from Jefte, Diomande and Bajrami.

That might be the most bizarre tactic I've seen on here in a long time and that's saying something.

                            Butland

   Kasanwijro Souttar Propper Jefte

Sterling  Barron Diomande Bajrami

Then play two of the three strikers or Lawrence behind one of the strikers. The rest such as Raskin, Tav, Hagi, Cerny etc. come in if and when needed.

We dont score many goals and we hang onto clean sheets through Butland. This is about stability and keeping clean sheets first and we 9 times out 10 score at least one goal domestically.

If you think this is bizarre I would suggest you have a look at some of our line ups between 2007 and 2011:lol:

You're saying we have a defensive right hand side and an attacking left hand side. It's bizarre.

Sterling is pretty shite out wide as well.

Butland

Sterling Souttar Propper Kasanwirjo

Barron

Cerny Bajrami Jefte

Igamane Dessers

Should be playing something like that against most of the dog shit in our league.

When I say "shut down" the right side I am suggesting that you line up in a way that doesnt give much away down that side not just that the whole right side shuts down when we have the ball. You can do both but with added defensive cover which we sorely lack with Tav and Cerny.

Sterling has played in right mid for some of our best performances and some of our most resolute under Clement like the 5-0 against Hearts and the 2-2 v Benfica.

I don't mind that either. Plenty of defensive solidity and enough to get goals.

He also played there when Motherwell beat us 2 1 at home. Probably the result that influenced our season the most.

There's not a single game I remember him playing there looking like anything other than filling in out of necessity. We don't need a right back playing right wing when 90% of the games we play are against teams with 10 men behind the ball.
