Gaffbear 4,106
Fans' community website Myfootballclub has agreed a deal to take over Blue square premier outfit Ebbesfleet utd. 20,000 Myfootball club memebers paid £35 each to raise £700,000 takeover pot and have an equal share each. Crackin idea eh. It's on the BBC website, read it through Who's got Murray's phone number.

blueben_d 40
would take a bit more than £700k to buy the famous Glasgow Rangers. The format of myfootballclub could work at the low level they play, but it would be a no go at the top levels it simply wouldn't work
blueben_d 40
besides if we did it there would probably be more tims investing than us and they'd pick ridiculous tactics and players.
Frankie 505
The overall concept of fan ownership is something I fully appreciate and back but I don't think this exact type of initiative is the best way for it to work.

True...like 1 up front against Dundee Utd and Charlie Adam getting a starting slot against Barca.
YankatOxford 0
I think this a terrific development for that particular side, but it raises questions about the future of football.

Adam 0
my question is, does anybody know what sort of percentage 700,000 will buy u at rangers? im guessing about 2% and im being dead genorous there, any more guesses?
parkheadbear 0
Not sure if i agree with this way of fans running the club. Most i feel will be doing it just for a laugh rather than thinking of the actual club. FU United is the best route but not so sure about this one. Im sure time will tell how it goes. Airdriebear 0
if £700,000 was 2% of RFC it would be worth £35 million i would say you would be lucky to buy 1.5% for that

Bazza 21
There should be fans on the board of every football club imo. They are the life and sole of the club itself. To have complete control of the club would be a mistake though.
Frankie 505
There should be fans on the board of every football club imo. They are the life and sole of the club itself. To have complete control of the club would be a mistake though. I can see why some people would think the second part. Heart over head and all that.... However, one must remember that just because the fans may own the club that doesn't mean they would necessarily be running it. Whose to say they wouldn't appoint a CEO to do that while we could all live off the profits on a vineyard in France...? Being serious for a second, fans owning a club the size of Rangers is probably a pipe-dream in many ways but as we see at clubs like Barca and Hamburg the fans can be involved very successfully in the decision-making process.
