Bluepeter9 5,167
I am an optomist by nature, and it works for me. My mate is a pessamist and always thinks the worst. We'll get beat, I wont get a ticket, I dont think we'll get there in time etct etc and we had a discussion about whether it was better to be an optomist than a pessamist and I am afraid he came up with a great agrgument for being a pessamist - basicaly its this: "As a pessamist if something good does happen, you are delighted, it it doesn't - it doesn't matter becuase thats what you expected anyway!" " As an optamist you always expect the good things to happen, but if they dont you are dissapointed" The logical conclusion to this argument is that as a pessamist you enjoy the good things, cause they were unexpected, but as an optomist you can only have dissapointment as you expect the good things to happen. I wonder if that is why so many on this board take a pessamistinc line - so that they can never be dissapointed ?
