kirkiebear 1,013
2 celtic fans were caught stealing celtic tops that were signed by the players at the Tommy burns memorial at parkhead. Can they possibly get any lower? http://www.sundaymail.co.uk/news/scottish-...78057-20428173/ Ghoulish thieves target jerseys at Tommy Burns' shrine May 25 2008 By Norman Silvester HEARTLESS thieves have tried to steal football shirts from the shrine to Tommy Burns outside Celtic Park. The low-life pair struck just hours after the Celtic legend was laid to rest. Horrified staff confronted the men after spotting them stealing strips laid in tribute to Tommy from football fans all over Scotland. The thieves dropped the tops - which have been placed back at the shrine - and fled in a green Skoda car. Police are examining CCTV footage of the incident on Tuesday night. Since Tommy died thousands of tributes have been left at the car park outside the ground, including signed strips from Old Firm players. One onlooker said: "The two men were acting suspiciously. They seemed to be checking sizes and targeting the strips which the Celtic players had signed. "We couldn't believe that such a thing would happen so soon after the funeral, everyone was disgusted." Strathclyde Police said: "They were gone by the time we arrived but staff had managed to recover the stolen items. Our inquiries are continuing." Meanwhile Celtic have revealed that the strips will be donated to charities working with underprivileged kids in Africa, South America and Eastern Europe. The club did the same thing with strips left in tribute after Jimmy Johnstone died two years ago. A Celtic spokesman said: "The tribute made to Tommy from fans of all clubs was simply phenomenal. "He will forever be remembered by us all as a man of true compassion and it is fitting that these items will go to help others across the world who are less fortunate." mackerel 0
Both sides of the OF have fuckers like this in their support. They might not even have been football fans in the first place. The bastards probably wanted to flog the signed tops on eBay for money. Again though (as with POD), I will not be using any controversy surrounding this man's death in a point scoring exercise, which is every bit as ghoulish as stealing the tops - to do so would be to stoop to the level of these despicable thieves. :angry2: WATP.
