Euro Sweat For Gers

RANGERS go into tomorrow's draw for the 3rd qualifying roud for the Champions League knowing they could land massively difficult opponents if they are able to overcome Kaunas.

Of course, with the 2nd round only at the halfway stage there could be an either/or scenario for Rangers but there are some real heavweights in the non-seeded section.

Rangers could get Altetico Madrid, Galatasaray, Sparta Prague, Slavia Prague or Dinamo Kiev, for example, and any of these would be extremely tough.

The draw ceremony takes place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon at 12.30pm tomorrow

The excitement building up around next season's UEFA Champions League will reach new levels on Friday when the draw for the third and final qualifying round takes place in Nyon, Switzerland.

Big names

Some of the continent's most famous teams will be among those anxious to discover their fate at UEFA headquarters, with former winners FC Barcelona, Juventus, Liverpool FC and Olympique de Marseille entering the draw as seeded teams along with big names including Arsenal FC, FC Schalke 04, ACF Fiorentina and Olympiacos CFP. Not all of the 18 third qualifying round entrants have been seeded, however, meaning Club Atlético de Madrid, Galatasaray AS and SK Slavia Praha could all find stiff opposition barring their route to the group stage.

Live broadcast

A total of 46 teams will be involved in the proceedings – which will be transmitted live on uefa.com and Eurosport – with the 28 sides still competing in the second qualifying round due to discover their reward if they win through. Where second qualifying round ties feature a club with a coefficient entitling them to be seeded in the next round, the potential winner of the match involving that club has been automatically seeded in the draw, meaning real incentives for the likes of FBK Kaunus against Rangers FC or FC BATE Borisov versus RSC Anderlecht. Clubs from the same country cannot be drawn together and matches will be played on 12/13 and 26/27 August, with the draw to be conducted by David Taylor, UEFA's General Secretary, and Giorgio Marchetti, UEFA Director of Competitions. The final will be played in Rome on 27 May.

I think we'd have Sofia, Victoria and Krakow out of your black list.

Would like a crack at Twente under charge of McLaren!
