Cardiff City have confirmed that they have received bids for Dutch defender Glenn Loovens.

The Bluebirds are refusing to reveal which clubs are interested in signing the 24-year-old.

But BBC Wales understands that none of the bids have met their valuation for £3m-rated Loovens.

Scottish Premier League sides Rangers and Celtic have both been linked to the player who has a year left to run on his contract.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones said last month: "If he stays then fantastic, but if he goes, I'll have to replace him - that's football."

Loovens' performances alongside Roger Johnson in defence last season were hailed as Cardiff marched to the FA Cup final.

The former Feyenoord trainee has been heavily linked with a move away from Ninian Park over the summer.

He has been offered a new contract by Cardiff, but has yet to put pen to paper fuelling speculation about a move.

Fuck sake, not impressed like. Can't that ginger wee hobbit not find his own targets? Prick. Its pretty obvious that European football this season will attract him to move to the scums place, but hopefully Walter manages to sign him :D

Looks like we are not the only team who dont value him at £3 mill, the tims bid was no where near Cardiffs valuation.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale "I can confirm I've had contact from another Scottish club who made a bid for the player this week. That bid fell way short of Cardiff's asking price."

Still looks like we are in with a chance off landing him.

Both the us and the tims have had bids turned down yesterday.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale is willing to sell Rangers target Glenn Loovens- but only for the right price.

Reports in Wales claim the Ibrox club had an offer of more than £2 m rejected on Wednesday with the Bluebirds holding out for £3m.

SPL rivals Celtic are also believed to have joined the chase for the 24-year-old defender with Ridsdale confirming a bid was received from another Scottish club.

That offer was turned down and Rangers remain the favourites to land the Dutchman- who is out of contract at the end of the season- as they seek a replacement for outgoing Carlos Cuellar.

“We have had bids from two clubs for Glenn Loovens,” Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo.

“Neither meet our valuation and both have been turned down. If there is a bid which reaches a level we believe is fair then it is likely we would accept.”

CARDIFF City have rejected a fresh offer for Joe Ledley as Rangers close in on the signing of Bluebirds defender Glenn Loovens.

Rangers have emerged as clear favourites to sign Loovens with Glasgow rivals Celtic – who had bid £1.5m for the Dutchman – about to sign German international Alexander Madlung from Wolfsburg for £3.5m.

The ’Gers went past the £2m mark yesterday, but City want £3m for 24-year-old Loovens, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

But it seems likely he could be on the move north by the weekend.

“We have had bids from two clubs for Glenn Loovens,” said Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale. “Neither meet our valuation and both have been turned down.

“It is likely we will sell if the clubs involved meet our valuation – and Dave Jones would have money available to find a replacement.”

Ridsdale also revealed there has been new interest in Wales star Ledley during the first week of the season.

“I turned down a bid for Joe Ledley yesterday,” said Ridsdale, declining to name the club involved.

Championship rivals Wolves tried to sign Ledley for £2m during the January transfer window and City are adamant they will not sell. But boss Jones has always admitted it is difficult to hold onto players when Premiership suitors become involved.

“We are intent on earning promotion to the Premiership and that means keeping our best players,” said Ridsdale.

“None of those on long-term contracts are available – at any price.

“Glenn Loovens is a different case because he has not signed the new contract offered him. We have talked to him about that and said we are happy for him to stay through this season.

“But that would mean he could walk away next summer for nothing.

“If there is a bid which reaches a level we believe is fair then it is likely we would accept.”

The former Feyenoord defender has one year left on his current Cardiff deal and there are only a couple of weeks for City to cash in on a player they signed for £250,000 three years ago. Loovens could sign a pre-contract agreement with another club in January and walk away on a free transfer next summer.

Spending 3mill on a player who is under contract for nly one more year is alot imo.

As the window comes to a close the more pressure Cardiff will be under to sell. They definitely want to get shot or they risk letting him go for nothing.

This deal could be the make or break of the Davis deal IMO.

We need a centre half today so we should pay the money.

We'll double our money for him next season probably.

We've offered £4m for the Aussie Bloke so offer £2.75m for Loovens.....throw in Dailly and McCulloch lol

celtic's 1.25 offer indicates they agree that with only one more year left 3mil may be to much.

on the other hand, rangers offering 2m shows (at least to us) that they aren't dickin around and offering derisory bids etc.

now, if we offered 2m and they value him at 2.5, could we not chuck in the .5 and begin talks with him about a contract extension at the same time? sure we could. but he hasn't kicked a ball for us yet.

so, dicey dealings the now and no matter what we dont want to be throwin money away. all yous saying this deal and that deal aren't getting done would be first in line to sqawk about money ill-spent.

my personal feelings are it will get sorted out and we'll be the better for it. with, or without, this guy.

Other reports are stating our 2million bid has been turned down already.

I think we could land him for around 2.5mill.

Broadfoot looks more than capable at centre back , so I'm not too worried. With Bougherra there beside him I reckon he'll do fine.

So long as Dailly gets replaced...

:anguish:

He does? He saved us at Falkirk and VS Liverpool. He was average at right back with a few errors but he seems comfortable in his natural position.

Agree with Dailly and McCulloch, not even sure they know their best position, Broadfoot doesnt look natural but cant question his workrate and now and then he surprises me, he's nowt more than a squad player but i'd keep him. The pish thing is that Adam is our nearest thing to a deadball specialist!! thats the big big reason we have never been able to put fear into teams, every team nowadays has someone that can take a good freekick and think of how many games we've been scared to give away a freekick in our own half and yet when we get one we canny do fuck all with it. Anyway Adam isnt good enuf!

This Niguez is meant to hit a mean free kick, although at 19 i dunno how much game time he'll get under Walter "extend your career here" Smith...

Dailly is just a pudding and shouldn't even be wearing the jersey, could say that about quite a few others too :angry2:

Whittaker hasn't lived up to all the hype either and Thomson needs to up his game big time.

I think Lafferty looks promising and Bougherra looks the part (saying that you can't really judge him from one game against falkirk) :rangers:
