But hey, we're fans and we know fuck all.

Why should any manager listen to us? We're just messageboard morons doh

... you take this view and yet you belittled my tounge-in-cheek article when I said we should pick the team by fan poll - double standards again! I just laugh out loud at the thought of Walter picking his team based on what fans say!

I'm not saying that.

I'm saying that this idea that managers have about fans that watch every minute of their team's games is just so ignorant.

I don't think for a minute that we should be allowed anywhere near the 'team selection' as a fanbase, that would be chaos and I'm more than comfortable with the current set up, but it's clear to me that our gaffer (and most others) think the fans are idiots and haven't a clue about the game of football.

And that doesn't reflect well for them, when for the first time in months he picks a team that most fans would have picked (players in right position, Aaron getting a chance, Whittaker in for Broadfoot, no McCulloch or Adam) and we record our biggest win in years.

Again, not saying we know one iota compared to Walter en masse, but his apparent mindset that all fans are stupid simply holds no water.

I dont think Walter has ever said fans are stupid, nor do I think its clear that WS and fans are idiots - but nor can he 'listen' to fans. Take Boyd (for instance) prior to this run of games the fan base was pretty slit on him - which side does he listen to?

Arron played yesterday because he has proven to Smith and his team he was worthy of a start - the reason he hasn't was he ha NOT been doing it on the training field or he would have an earlier chance - thats why we have a manager to make thsese decisions. (BTW - while Arron looked good for 15 minutes against a 10 man, tiered and defeated Hamilton, it will be a good few games before we can really judge him).

Whittaker has had injury problems so couldn't be used earlier, McCollough did no harm (although it is a strange one - but again WS can see what he has available and if that is the bes option I trust him) and Adam has had some great games (and even some ggod ones this season) and deserves a game (IMHO).

But I think that to say Smith thinks fans are stupid is unproven and speculation on your part (perhaps it is the journo in you coming out?)

While Walter is not everybodys' favourite how about some credit for an outstanding result yesterday. And all of those who want him out, how about suggesting a feasible replacement. And a final point, did you complain when his tactics, albeit not very pretty, got us to the UEFA final last season.

:bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

the same tactics that tossed away the league, and treated us to the most boring football i have ever had to watch since following rangers.

I've been following the Rangers since late 60's and while the season ended up falling flat, I'd rather have made it to Manchester than not, only ECWC win in Barca was a better season IMO.

I naturally wanted us to win the title but we have a chance to do that every season, how often will we make a Euro final, and how long will we have to wait for another one.

Yes we did in some ways throw away the league but they lied, cheated and used every evil tactic they could, they had loads of help from the SPL, Motherwell etc. and also the "Japanese Tour" was believed by the other muppets in charge.

So while you might blame it all on Walter, I for one thank him for the journey he took us on last season.

Try and be constructive, who would you get to replace him?

:rangers::rangers::rangers:

reaching 3 european cup winners cup finals and winning one of them was much better than walter taking us to the eufa final.

These 3 finals, two of which were lost remember were in the space of 11 years, so getting to another one after 36 years is IMO a major achievement, does it then also follow that Wallace(who was assistant in Barcelona), Greig, Souness, Advocaat, and McLeish were all failures as they never got us to a Euro final of any sort?

i dont know how you think it was a great season when we flung away the title, plus struggled to beat 2 poor teams, and if your honest did not deserve to beat them. also how we reached a euro final i will never know, playing boring anti football, but if you like that kind of football then you are easily pleased.

He must have logged on and picked up a few ideas from us:

He dropped Broadfoot

Left out Darcheville, McCulloch, Adam and Burke from the squad

Played players in their proper positions (Even the subs)

Played Aaron

Played Lafferty up front

If only he could do this week in week out instead of chopping and changing.

:craphead: think you have a point there. We should start a thread for Walter every Friday with the team selection

If you actually read my post, no where did I say I enjoyed the style of football, in fact I admit it wasn't pretty but it did work. I do believe Walter did the best anyone could with what he had available to him and I enjoyed the whole "Manchester" journey.

Having followed the team home and away since the 60's when we were always second to them I appreciate when we win and while I of course wanted to win the league, I would rather have won the UEFA cup as it's almost a once in a lifetime chance.

It's dead easy to be destructive but I'm more of a "half full" type of guy and I appreciate winning any trophy, however don't ever mistake that for accepting second best, we are second best to no-one.

DB that's bollox, I am never happy being 2nd best to anyone, especially them, however what I do appreciate is us reacing a Euro final for the first time since '72, and taking the title to the death, that in my book from a team who were second by a country mile the season before is IMO a reasonably good season.

Did Smith and Murray not say as much as their last AGM though? Their attack on 'the fans that use webs' was as embarrassing as it was wide of the mark.

And can you please attack something else other than me doing journalism? You should be happy that someone Rangers minded is trying to make strides in he industry ;)

Going to Manchester was a fantastic experience, the whole journey. I also didn't find it Boring when we beat Werder Bremmen, or anyone on the way. In fact I dont find winning boring at all, and as for when Nacho scored the penalty against Fiorintina I was estatic.

The build up to Manchester was fantastic as was the day, only dissapointment was the result and the negativity towards Rangers in the aftermath caused by a few idiots. Yes we lost the league and that was gittingly dissapointing, but overall, compared to the capitulation of the season before (and before WS was in charge) it was fantastic to be there, and win two cups. A good season in my book!

The Bremen games were really good, but Sporting Lisbon at home was :anguish:

Can't believe I paid £40 for that.
