SDM: I'm not saying sorry .. this is reality

Recommended Posts

Although there's no getting away from blaming Murray for the overall state of the club, he's in a 'damned if he does, damned if he doesn't' scenario with Smith and transfer money.

If he doesn't give Smith money to burn - he'll get slaughtered.

If he does give Smith money which is subsequently wasted on pish - he'll get slaughtered.

One of Murray's biggest mistakes over the last 5 years was bowing to Barry Ferguson in the PLG debacle. I've got absolutely no doubt the Frenchman could have used the money better.

the same frenchman who asked to leave twice before his resignation was accepted and signed some of the worst players i have seen in a Rangers jersey...no thanks.....

he had no money

clement - 2.5m

papac- 1.1m i think

sebo 1.5m

sionko - free ( i think)

alone with those 4 players makes 5.5m

for similar money

mendes 2.5m

davis 3m

i know who i would rather have.

He had a track record before Rangers of making money go far, that's what I'm saying.

You can pull out two of Walter's best signings but think of the £5m he's wasted on complete dross. Smith's wasted a hell of a lot more money than £5m come to think of it.

they are now specialising in mischief-making at a time when this club needs it least.

What a dumb comment.

going by some of the asset stripper nonsense you can see what he is talking about

Can you?

Maybe you can enlighten me then?

If this is the time when the Club least needs mischief-making, when would we need it most?

but my point is we gave le guen 5m and he wasted it on dross, who is to say if we gave him another 5m that we wouldnt have another 4 duds on the books!!

as gcl has stated le guen never signed any players for lyon he would state i need a left full back and someone else went out and bout the players for him without asking him if this player would do . not sure of the guys name in fact is it not the chairman that buys all the players at lyon ?

Absolutely. He didn't sign them all, but it doesn't mean he never went out and signed one single player for them.

This year he's signed Makelele, Giuly, Kezman and Hoarau for the same price of one Kyle Lafferty.

with about 50 grand to each player weekly bar hoarau who was playing in the back water leagues in france which is about the price of three kyle laffertys.

and its a lot easier getting players to go to PARIS rather than glesga.

It must be quite hard for you understanding the English language when you take everything so literally........

Jean Michel Aulas doesn't sign the players, Lyon simply have a ridiculously good scouting system in place and you or I could go there and sign a good player.

He's been turning PSG from complete failures into one of the youngest and most promising teams in France though, with 60% youth and a smattering of talented and hungry experienced pros. That's more what I'm getting at, if only we'd been a bit more patient with him.

Murray is an arrogant b*stard who has made a total mess of running Rangers on and off the park.

I only hope that the majority of fans now realise that the club is just a plaything to him and he is simply taking them for a ride.

so he has made a mess of the club!!! how many in a row would celtic have if Murray never took over?

what is your suggestion for taking the club forward then?

Rangers won their first title in years without Murray. Not to be pedantic but I think Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Hearts and maybe Motherwell might have won a couple of titles if Murray and his millions hadn't come along.

Anyway, before this turns into a PLG debate, my only point is that Walter's spunked a lot of the cash that Murray's given him.

Some of the signings have been just mind-boggling and I wouldn't mind Smith coming out and telling us why he thought it right to give Dailly an extra year, why he thought it right to turn down a brilliant bid for McCulloch etc.

That's all :)

i'll agree with that bit but whos to say that plg or any other manager put in charge would have done a better job with no experience of the scottish game.

dailly and mcculloch are brutal though.

I'm interested in this line 'Murray and his millions'.

Can you clarify just how much he invested in the club during the 9IAR era?

I make it zero.

At one stage in the early 90s, Rangers sold more season tickets than the rest of Scottish football combined. We had a huge advantage in having (essentially) an all-seated stadium in place - this was built by pre-Murray Boards.

He should be given credit for increasing revenue in the early 90s, but Celtic showed that this is not as difficult as would be imagined with the right people in place.

Murray's performance after appointing Advocaat has been abysmal. If he was the Chief Executive rather than Chairman he'd have been fired years ago.

I agree that the good times were good but that is beginning to seem like a long, long time ago.

They Dont have to be, there could be more just round the corner in may, remember Celtic are no better than us on the field, we win the league, they get 2nd and lose the qualifier they will have against a Difficult opponent from the top leagues in europe we make more cash.

of course if your on the dark side of life.

its the opposite we finish 2nd then get put out of europe and end up worse off than we are now.

but i prefer the first part of this post.

I don't know what you mean about 'divulging' further.

The facts are contained in the accounts issued annually.

The ENIC share issue and the Dave King/Murray injection came at the end of the 9IAR sequence.

Are you an accountant who reviewed the 9 years worth of books ?
