Players and other staff have not been paid since the summer and new owner Giampietro Manenti has failed to make the minimum payments against debt which were due on February 16.

With cash levels dipping to dangerously low levels, the club asked to play Sunday's match behind closed doors as they were unable to fund matchday stewards.

But players and coaches from both clubs have "expressed discomfort" over that proposition, leading the Italian Football Federation to order a postponement following a meeting held in the northern city on Friday.

An FIGC statement read: "The president has taken note of Parma's request that Parma-Udinese, originally scheduled for February 22, take place exclusively behind closed doors.

"He has heard from the Italian Footballers' Association and the Italian Association of Soccer Coaches who have expressed discomfort of players and coaches from both teams about playing behind closed doors.

"Decision: the rearrangement of the game to another date which will be decided by the Lega Serie A."

Players losing patience

Frustration is also growing among the playing staff, with training cancelled on Friday, while team coaches and vehicles were seized from their Collecchio training base earlier this week.

They have won only three games all season and are 13 points adrift of safety.

Captain Alessandro Lucarelli said: "We've had a meeting with the president (Manenti) and what has emerged is the difficulty in bringing the money to Italy.

"He has reiterated that he will try to give us some guarantees in the next 24 hours. But our patience has a limit. We are a united group and we have given the club an ultimatum. The time is running out. We need facts, not words."

They have been dissolved and regulated tonight, unbelievable.

No they haven't

In a dire mess though. First-team squad bus and severel other vehicales seized, can't even afford hot water in the showers. Apparently the players haven't been paid since July.

In those circumstances liquidation looks inevitable. Sad night. That club once had Cannavaro, Buffon, Crespo, Veron on their teamsheet and now it looks all over.

Reports coming out of Italy suggest that Parma have been dissolved, just a day after the cash-starved club was forced to postpone its Serie A game with Udinese while an 11th-hour attempt to save the club was underway.

The club have reportedly racked up a debt of €197 million and were forced to call off Sunday's game because they couldn't afford to pay stewards to attend the match at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Owner Giampietro Manenti hasn't paid players or staff at the club, currently sitting rock bottom of the table with just 10 points, for the majority of the season.

But now that cash reserves have finally run out, the Italian Football Federation has been forced to dissolve the club and automatically relegate them.

According to Parma youth team coach Hernan Crespo, the situation has gotten so bad at the once proud club that they can't even afford bottles of water during training sessions.

While no official confirmation has yet been given, it is understood that all of Parma's remaining games this year will be recorded as 3-0 losses.

You would like to think multi millionaire Crespo would at least bring the lucozade in with him

I hope they can return, I'm sure they will.

Horrible thing to happen to the fans.

Italian bankruptcy law seems a lot more fluid than over here, football clubs fold and reform very frequently. Normally the name is slightly different but the history transfers over pretty seamlessly.

Parma have been through this already. This one might be harder for them to bounce back from. One thing I've never understood about Parma is the fact they must have the biggest playing squad in Europe. It's mental the amount of players they have out on loan at other clubs.
