Makes you wonder how Ally has even been able to appear to function normally

Recommended Posts

People keep saying that but strangely never actually name any.

We know how he will do next next season already.

Just like this one, only we will struggle in more games as the opposition is a bit better.

Plenty folk said give him this season and judge, now it's next season.

How many before we can finally judge him.

They do, you just don't want to acknowledge them.

As long as we 'struggle' to another League title and have a few decent cup runs then I'll be happy.

Ally has been great for Rangers - no doubt at all. As a player and a personality and as a manager in some very tough times recently. Nevertheless his managerial record is spotty. He has won the 3rd division after a rough start and in difficult circumstances. The football though was dire at times and the part time and amateur opposition made to look like Barcelona too often. His record in the SPL, CL and Europa qualifiers is awful.

He deserves the chance of another season, but if things do not improve football wise he should resign. He has a large budget and better facilities than any team in Scotland. Only Celtic has a higher wage bill.

His fate is in his hands.

i agree with a lot of this except saying he was awful in the SPL.

He lead the team to one of the best starts to a season we have had in years. The wheels came off for a bit, but he then lead the team to make a good final push at the end of the season and still managed to come 2nd after losing his two best attacking options...lots of uncertainty about the future and a 10 point dediction.

He also put out a good enough side ti get into Europe and the team let him down big time in those matches.

His cup runs have been pretty brutal so far though.

How co

the squad he has has not improved under him in any way infact I think they have went backwards.

He won the league by 25 points.

He is working to improve the standards of 'flair' that some of our fans so desperately crave.

Give him a break ffs.

when we had naismith and a full team we went on an amazing run in the SPL and were unplayable.

Correct,i always revert back to the St.Mirren game at Ibrox that season.Sellik were 3-0 down to Killie in the early kick off and in disarray, but clawed it back to 3-3,Lemon was for quitting at half time, remember drinking in the Louden and everyone thought the league was done and dusted. Then we concede a last minute goal to only take a point in our later kick off....

We were awful to watch, we played 1 up front and teams like Hibs and Aberdeen dominated possession. Whilst we had a good run, our football was shocking to watch imo.

that is not how i remember the start to our SPL season.

Gogzy you thought Rangers played well in the first half on Saturday and asked for more of the same in the 2nd half.

i said our pasing was better, which it was. I also said oir final phase was shit. Which it was. :)

Surely one of those sticking up for Ally can come up with a footballing reason for doing so ?

One ?

Anyone ?

so apart from winning / romping the league is there any other footballing reason for sticking up for Ally

oh wait - we had no squad with a week to go and lost 26 professional reasons any other football reasons

oh except he introduction of numerous youths any other football reason

... and this under pressure of all the naysayers I. our own support

Alex Rae is talking a right lot of pish.

We walked this league despite the turgid performances so just how much more money did Ally want to spend? How would we be feeling right now if we'd spent another £1-2m this year?

Ally's sat week in week out peddling the same excuses but we've probably the most expensive team ever to win the 3rd Div. Lack of resources not an excuse.

Not too hard when you have international players on over 10k a week playing against plumbers who get paid expenses and train less than 4 hours per week

oh wait - we had no squad with a week to go and lost 26 professional reasons any other football reasons

But still managed to sign the best players from Killie, St Johnstone and Hearts and turn them into duds

oh except he introduction of numerous youths any other football reason

To destroy their confidence and play them out of position at right midfield or left midfield, whilst leaving out right and left midfielders and destroying their confidence too

The same naysayers who chanted Super Ally at almost every game and purchased over 38,000 season tickets

Ally McCoist has had a unique opportunity this season,

With the combination of youth and experience we could have played a high speed possession game at a tempo that part time players could not cope with.

Instead we played a 4-5-1 with 2 holding midfielders,

a right sided player on the left

a left sided player on the right and we then proceded to lump long balls to an isolated striker.

Not exactly the style of play you would want to use to reward and entertain over 40,000 fans, is it ?

Oh, I also forgot to mention that Ally blaming the youngsters everytime something went wrong isn't exactly the best way to develope and install confidence in youngsters.

Simply put,

Ally McCoist the player and legend does not have what it takes to become Ally McCoist the manager and legend.

Dressing room jokers and pranksters do not suddenly become good managers, If you know of any let me know.

Football manager esque, fantasy bullshit

Thats something you worked towards over a period of years, carefully recruiting the right players with the right scouting, not turn up a week before the season and go right lads heres whats left, lets destroy teams with world class attacking football.

Is it really so hard to coach full time proffesional footballers to play the game at a high tempo against part time opponents ?

Is it difficult to play right sided players on their favoured side and play centre forwards as centre forwards instead of wide midfielders ?

Is it so difficult to use passing drills, conditioned games and game related practices to promote pressure football and ball retention under pressure ?

Or is it easier to stick you hands down your shorts, tell a few funny stories and then be in Nandos or the golf course or the racing for 1pm

Or is it easier to believe every piece of shit against our team and manager - that seems to be the route you have gone down! ( oh and nandos is healthy chicken!)

So for a full time team (littered with experienced internationalists and SPL players) to play a high tempo possession game against part time players is fantasy bullshit ?

No it is easier to watch it week after week by attending games and watching how poorly the team is set up and the method and formation.

I dont think there are many managers who over the course of effectively 1 season have went into clubs and instilled that playing style, while maintaining the same, or downgrading personnel.

At best you will see a manager instil confidence in players who had previously shown the ability. It takes time and recruitment to develop.

There isnt much different tactically McCoist could do , for years on here the majority have screamed that 442 is a "dead" formation. The 4231 we have used this season is actually pretty progressive and would have worked a lot better with a better frontman up there all season.
