  1. Right now i think the quality and resources gap between Rangers and Celtic would be the equivilant of the gap between Liverpool and Man Utd. Realistically who would you tip between these two teams to win the premiership???
  2. That match in Munich was one of Rangers finest displays that i have seen from us. Have rarely seen a more fortunate winning team than Munich were that night on their own patch. That is the way you want your club to perform, just have no fear and take the game to them. Was very proud even in defeat.
  3. At least you'll be back for the crucial must win games from there on after falling behind celtic.
  4. Agree with the Peter Lovenkrands view, sorely mis used at times by eck and now just missed. Also agree with buffel, he's got ability.
  5. A very interesting topic frank if we can be honest in our views. Its hard for me to rule out players that plyed there trade prior to the seventies due to my lack of knowledge in seeing them so my views are based from the 70's until today. Todays standard of truelly world class is measured against the likes of Henry, Kaka, Ronaldinho etc. We havent had any players of their elite calibre and reputation. I think we have had truelly elite european standard players such as- Laudrup, De boers, Goram, Hately, Numan, Caniggia, Gasgoigne, Souness, Wilkins, Woods, Steven and you would have to include a golden boot winner in M'coist. MY god what went wrong...
  6. Alarms are ringing (again). with regards to this transfer target..
  7. No i dont think your far off the mark in your assessments. There are people that casually sling accusations of protestants having a paranoid seige mentality, and you know unwittingly such people are in part, correct in their assumptions. Please do not underestimate the scale of,as some others have put it the, (Demonization) of all things (Protestant/British/Rangers). There is much proven evidence to support protestant fears and perceptions. Now whether Celtic like it or not or admit it or not the fact is that they are followed by thousands of people who are and have been part of the worst and most feared terrorist group that europe has ever seen. Celtic fc do not condone terrorists as i am sure the majority of their support doesnt but the majority is often dominated by the extremists. These people are hardline, dedicated, articulated and most of all indoctrinated and will vehemently oppose all things british/protestant, and that just coincidentally includes rangers. While lingering in the H.M. Maze prison for the sickening attrocities they caused a group of republicans set about planning a multiple pronged assault on all things british/protestant at the start of the early nineties. The consequences of this plan and the success has been enormous. Just look at where all these Sinn fein murdering scum are today. The same sectarian attitudes and behaviour exist today only now they cleverly manifest themselves covertly. Republican/catholic/Irish/celtic propaganda is second to none and its effects are powerful. Glasgow rangers need a makeover in this department big style. We the fans need to ask ourselves- ( are we happy sitting back allowing these people to demonize and ridicule us? ) ( Are we happy with the current lack of defence or support for the fans from inside the club ?) ( Are we gonna let the media paint such a distorted one sided picture?) and ( Are we gonna let sectarian idiots overtly tarnish our clubs image with unacceptable behaviour at games????? Better to die on your feet in defiance having givin your best for something you love than to live on your knees in retreat and surrender!!!!
  8. This is a topic that i have written about and argued about on many occasions and its clear that the same unacceptable approach to protestantism exists. Firstly be assured that protestants have every right to feel passionate about either their religion or their allegence to Rangers. How dare anyone try to make rangers feel ashamed of their mainly protestant history, it isnt what Rangers is about but if the question is asked then the facts are that yes Rangers has a majority protestant following and why shouldnt it? As is obvious Celtic are mainly catholic and yes that was deliberate and they are praised for it and proud of it, why shouldnt they be. Most spanish, italian, south american and southern irish clubs would have mainly catholic support and make no secret or apologies for it, and again why should they. Furthermore the vast majority of gers supporters wouldnt question this either. However the reality is that the same attitudes are not applied when it comes to protestants or clubs and organizations associated with protestants. There isnt any respect , and instead we are labelled as sectarian or bigots. This is where the blatant hypocrisy comes in and infuriates people. In Nothern ireland it is outrageous, in relation to attitudes towards- psni recruitment, orange order marches, flying the national flag etc. Anything or opportunity to tarnish and discriminate against anything british or protestant will be used. The overwhelming difference between catholic and protestant propaganda is that the catholic institution have an extremely powerfull infrastructure that will tolerate no negative press and paints themselves as the platinum of religions, and they are good at it.- Just look at Sinn fein. There is nothing like this to defend protestantism. As long as by celebrating our culture and heritage and are love for our team we abuse no other and dont overtly use offensive chants and songs which contain blatant offensive terms which disrespect others beliefs then we are totally within our rights. Singing blatantly offensive songs isnt only bigotry, its just f****** stupid. Glasgow rangers will embrace all religions whatever they may be, however the fact remains that it has a predominantly protestant following and the club should openly embrace it. Demand respect for who and what we are, and never never never let anyone make you feel ashamed for what you legitimately are.
  9. What the f*** are we considering selling him for in the first place? He is a great player on his day and i still believe he can become more consistent. Does no one realise that by selling him we are losing our best creative player at a time when we need him. Does anyone think we will recoup the money we sell him for to spend on another player, we'll never see it. We need options so keep him, get him fit and get the best from him. A great example is letting peter lovenkrands go . He was our biggest attacking option and we have sorely missed him and he's proved how good he is in germany. Dont be so stupid Walter.
  10. If our anticipated targets prove to be accurate and we succeed in signing them then the estimated expenditure of between 4-5 million will have been correct. Pretty shocking actually for a club our size that NEED to rebuild and strengthen in order to mount a serious challenge. Celtic are champions with a better squad already and are still spending and strengthening more. Im totally behind walter and all his best efforts to come but i fear the reality will be a sore one for us!!!!
  11. In the lead up to the PLG era there was a kind of fantasy, disney like new dawn atmosphere swelling up around Ibrox which was mostly being created by media and foolishly swallowed as usual by all of us supporters. The legions awaited with mouths watering for the messiah to arrive and the eagerly anticipated season to begin. Im not gonna go through the times and testaments of PLG because it would be so trivial but what struck me early in the season was, Alex M'cleish wasnt that bad after all. PLG bought thoroughly inadequate players for the job in hand regardless of funds available, but the thing that underlined his failure was the total shambles of a defensive unit that he put together. The most basic fundamental abilities to defend the simplest crossed or long balls was blatantly lacking and he couldnt fix it. He may well have proved to have other quality assets in the longer term but his failure to get the basics right set off too many alarm bells and time ran out. With Walter we wont get the prettiest flowing european style of play and we probably wont make much inroads in europe, but we will get passion, desire, effort and determination combined with a thorough knowledge and love for rangers, and most importantly we will get our title back.... Better the devil you know than the french one you dont!!!!!
  12. Mr murray has made mistakes to which he would admit, but he has tried his best , has gambled in the quest of success, has put his own money up time and again, has made Ibrox what it is today and has given us Murray park. Yes the clubs finances arent great at present but Mr murray now finds himself out of his depth because big clubs need billionaires now and he cant compete, this isnt his fault. Would everyone be happier with someone who didnt gamble and try to make us more successfull- i think not. Fair play David, god loves a tryer...
  13. No chance. Barry has proved himself, Brown hasnt. Brown has shown his affection for Rangers by going to Celtic. Lets make him see that he's backed the wrong horse.
  14. At last a bit of more promising signs, but we must find an attacking midfield player who is comfortable on the ball and can open up defences. Our midfield is ok but chronically lacks invention, this has to be our priority by a mile. I trust Walter and Ally and im sure they are working their arses off trying to find the right player. As ive posted before im glad we didnt get Brown, he is rated so highly because he is another scottish prospect, we need and will get a better player than him regardless of nationality.
  15. Havent heard much about this event as im not from the city but going on those descriptions posted i think that there was deliberate and blatant pro celtic agenda at work there. Anyone tasked with writing these descriptions would or should have been well aware of the details, history and facts of these stadiums and their associated teams, and its very clear that someone decided to speak in glowing terms of only one. In relation to people remarking about us just being jealous or paranoid- if this was an isolated incident you could say ok fair enough, but its on the back of continued unjustified bad press, accusations, pro celtic gloating etc and it angers the f*** out of me. SDM lift the phone and open your gob and start to ensure that our club gets a fair deal and force the world to see that we are 5 star Glasgow Rangers, whether they like it or not.
  16. I think we would all welcome a takeover if it takes the club back up in the direction it belongs. Gordon strap-on was saying in the papers how he believes a european league will happen and i agree. Whenever this starts to take shape i think we'll see some interested parties.
  17. Your spot on regarding the chronic need for a quality creative midfielder. Someone who is comfortable on the ball and can breach defences with imaginitive passes and skill.
  18. I hope and pray that Walter puts emphasis on creativity. Ferguson is our most creative and does his best but has limitations, Burke is meant to be our creative winger that shreds other teams with flair and pace , but just does f*** all. Buffel is still an option that i hope stays and can be moulded by walt and ally, i know he needs consistency but he has something that our other players dont and id give him a chance. On top of this we need 2 or 3 further quality creative players. M'gregor Hutton Weir (other) Smith (Hemdani or Thomson) (other) Ferguson (other) Darcheville (boyd/other) Players like Adam, Buffel, Ugo, Webster, Gow, Sebo, Murray + some other additions should be complementing the starting 11 and competing for places.
  19. Boyd would only be worth what another spl club could afford and that wouldnt be much because he would struggle outside the spl. He is a box predator that needs a good partner. I hate being critical and am fond of Boyd but as yet he has nothing else to offer. Next season will be the making or breaking of him, lets see how many he scores in europe and against the better quality teams. If he flops he'll be sacrificed.
  20. Firstly as i had hoped and predicted previously we have not got brown, not worth the gamble for what little money we have. Also lets be realistic Celtic can still only play with 4 in the middle, lets say that is Hartley, m'geady, nakamura and now brown, you have to admit that Neil Lennon done a great job for them and now its a case of Brown for lennon- with the exception of a bit more energy and pace they wont have improved substantially. All gers should be fully supporting the management, they are equally as much of a supporter as we are and they are doing their absolute best in the circumstances. Its ridiculous to be critical at this stage, who else out there would you trust to come in with any more experience, determination, character, knowledge or commitment to this club?? the answer is there is no one better. Get behind them and lets help solve our problems not add to them...
  21. In the cold light of day he is even more GINGER. Surely he must be gay, have you seen the twat in interviews. This is whats on his mind. He has shown that he has the ability but he's a non tryer who is showing no interest in enhancing the team. Give him a half dozen games at the start of next season and if there isnt a dramatic improvement then kick the wee robbing turd burglar out da f***. And he can tell his da gordon if he f***in well likes..
  22. Hopefully the boss is scouring Europe for a creative attacking midfielder, someone who can cut open defences and score goals. Save the brown money for this type of player.
  23. Ive questioned the logic behind buying Brown and posted it recently and this rumour is good news if it proves to be true and Brown goes elsewhere. We should let him go to the premiership and ply his trade with an average side and have a less than exciting or successful time. Then what will happen is he will want to come back to scotland and he'll be cheap. At this point we will snap him up and he will at least be more experienced. Thats what usually happens. As ive said before we cant afford to spend what little money we have on another unproven over rated player, premiership clubs can take this chance , WE CANT..
