Sorry been busy….to answer your question, albeit late, I didn’t want any of them back. Didn’t want Davis, McGregor, Naismith Whitaker or any of them. But some of them came back and I was pissed off about it at the time but what can you do. Since then he has redeemed himself with his performances. If Naismith had come back I would have been raging but if he had then gone on to win us many matches and been a great servant to the club then I would probably say the same. It’s history and I just don’t think it bears being raised in a discussion about his contribution to the team in 2022

Sorry. McGregor has more than made up for leaving in 2012. He has been an amazing servant to the club in both his spells. I was passed off that he left the way he did and didn’t TUPE over but that’s ancient history and his contribution since returning has been fantastic. But we said our goodbyes last season and he should have been replaced.

Last season In Europe he had not yet sucked the belief out of them completely. However even in that final I think if we had shown the same intensity as we delivered against Borussia or Leipzig we win that match.

I don’t know how long you have been watching football but it should be obvious that it’s not about the number of points in the league. It’s about the likelihood of winning. Likelihood of winning is extrapolated from performances. The performances under this manager have been woeful and apart from Aberdeen last weekend, trending worse. Every player has regressed under his coaching. Our fitness has regressed, our hunger is missing, we have no clear style of play except “defensive”. We have no invention, creativity or even confidence. Everything is absolutely wrong on the pitch and that comes from the manager. Being 2nd in a two horse race is nothing to cling to. I absolutely dread a GVB team going up against the other horse right now as we look bereft of belief

I think the problem is he genuinely has no belief in his players. I would say it’s probably not uncommon for a player who played at the very top level to just assume that everyone should have his ability and has no idea how to coach them to improve. He gives off an air of “well what do expect with a bunch of plodders”, “I am telling them what to do know it’s not my fault or their fault that they aren’t capable.” When you have leader who has the attitude of “a donkey can’t win the grand national” the team is never going to perform We need a manager that believes in his players and believes in himself. Gerrard had the belief if not the coaching ability or tactical nous. Gio doesn’t seem to have any of it

He is not the whole problem obviously... but he is a big problem... He cannot, as a manager, come out and say that the step up in class is too much. Get that shit right in the bin. The Manager has to instill belief in his players, he has to give solutions and ideas to solve the problems. We were in Europa League final with most of these players. We went toe to toe with Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Benfica, ... we have held our own against UCL level teams with these same players... he can get to fuck with "they are just better than us" We play in Scotland, teams from England and Germany and Italy will ALWAYS be better than us, but we need to have the belief when we go into every 90 minutes of football that 11 men can compete with 11 men.... He sucked that belief out of us. And its not just a European problem btw.... we should never be capitulating 4-0 domestically. He should have walked after that

It's actually painful to watch him now. The kinder thing to do is give him the bullet. If he had some self respect he would quit, surely he knows he is done... You can't deliver performances like this and think "yep, I am on it here, I believe what I am doing is right" You just can't. We need an absolute clear out. Starting with the Manager. Wilson has proven that he is not up to whatever the job is. We need to get rid of our Dad's Army of players who just can't bring it anymore (McGregor, Davis and Arfield) and we need to cut the serial losers (Tav and Goldson) and prima donna's (Kent and Morelos). Then we need to cut the crocks and stop signing more (Helander, Souttar, Roofe, Davies) That's fucking a full team there of duds or has beens!! There is no perfect answer to this but a good start is cut GVB and get a steady pair of hands until the end of the season

There is not a doubt in my mind that VAR will be a net positive for us. We have been on the end of some absolutely woeful refereeing over the last few years with more incorrect calls going against us than for us. and that includes games we aren’t playing in Scottish football is going to fucking hate VAR and it will be demonised as Masonry at work when actually it is just levelling the playing field Yes the VAR will go against us from time to time and so it should, but it will go for us far more often.

An excellent performance. Wasnt expecting that at all. That’s got to be the minimum acceptable performance from now on. It’s the only way Gio saves his job. Just don’t get where these performances come from. How can essentially the same players turn in such woeful performances and then suddenly look like world beaters again 🤷‍♂️

Nothing. But I would like to see what he can do as part of the coaching staff. I would like to have an approach at the football club of developing our own managerial talent as well as the playing talent. The approach of appointing managers has been a lottery. Caixinha, GVB, Warburton, even Gerrard. All massive gambles. I get that appointing a manager is always a coin toss but having our talent being developed seems prudent to me Thomson has a great attitude to the game, he gets what it means to play for Rangers and learned great lessons from Walter among others. He seems to be doing good things at grass root coaching. Would love for him to develop the basic skills. just an opinion.

There is undoubtedly a serious issue with the mentality of our players. It’s very hard to pin point what and who that is though. I seriously question our captain and vice captain. They are two of our most talented players and we would struggle without them but at the same time something just doesn’t seem right with them. They both just seem to wilt under more intense pressure but not consistently. Sometimes they deliver. It’s very weird.

Correct. We need an experienced manager on a caretaker basis. Wouldn’t be against Sean Dyche or Bielsa coming in until the end of the season. We have a great opportunity here for “try before you buy” However I would give Thomson a role in any future permanent team with the potential of succession down the line. We need to be thinking long term with Managers.

He was done after the 4-0 to the scum. A Rangers team can’t capitulate like that. The 7-1 against Liverpool just cemented it. Now every game is just delaying the inevitable and a matter of how much damage will be done before he goes. Get him sacked and get a caretaker in until a permanent replacement is identified.
