  1. He also said in an interview once that he would be a useless coach because he doesn't know how to explain the saves he makes. The guy is an instinctive shot stopper but technically, not very good. There is obviously the inability to come for any ball crossed into his box but also his distribution is poor. Unbelievable keeper for us over the years, possibly the best, but his time is up and he needs to go. We need someone far more reliable in goals, the feeling of assuredness at corners when McLaughlin is in goals compared to him is night and day and it looks like the defenders feel it too
  2. Always sad when a good guy leaves but the old cliche of “no sentiment in football” needs to apply. i don’t believe we are being ruthless enough, Davis and McGregor should also have gone with our thanks and we should be concentrating on the future.
  3. Love Davis and McGregor but they are done. We need to move on. We have promising youngsters that need room to grow. Davis hasn’t been played much since the turn of the year I would have used him more tbh but would be astonished if we are thinking of giving him a playing contract Balogun needs to go too. Injury prone ageing and we can get better. Souttar coming in, King looking good. Katic? Will he be able to turn his fortunes around? Goldson, Simpson, Balogun and Helander should go so we need CH quality.
  4. We were 6 points clear at the winter break!!! If the break had not been brought forward we would have scudded the scum in the New Year Old Firm and gone 9 clear. Instead we fell apart.... I am delighted with the excitement of Europe and, frankly, relieved at breaking the cup hoodoo but losing that league from the position we were in is scandalous and means we failed....
  5. I was just reading some comments on Alfredo’s Twitter post when a wee switch went off in my head. Every tweet from Rangers, about Rangers or even just associated with Rangers distantly, is full of tarriers. I have joked in the past about how they hate us more than they love their own team but it isn’t actually even a vague joke now. It’s absolutely certain. They were established in opposition to us and the need to hate us has never left them. The mad thing is if we follow our own fans on Twitter, listen to our own fan media like Heart and Hand and get our banter from Rangersmedia I genuinely wouldn’t have a clue what they are up to. With just a wee bit more effort I could just about pretend they don’t exist. The apathy with which their title win has been received is glorious. No one gives a fuck, everyone still wants to talk about Rangers. That’s what makes them so bitter and petty.
  6. Sometimes feels like everyone is just itching for an argument on here 😂 we absolutely battered Hearts defence yesterday with or without a central striker. Halkett and Souttar stood against that battering admirably. Even their wee right back battled valiantly against a total hammering from Kent and Bassey. He would have slept well last night and he will be sore this morning. Souttar played very well yesterday. He was the Hearts man of the match and some of them think he was the best player on the pitch. While I am here, five stars is not saying Souttar is better than Goldson. What he said is that Souttar is a better distributor of the ball than Goldson. That should be debated on its merits because Goldson has been pretty good with long balls over the top and I haven’t seen enough of Souttar to judge. But let’s not argue the wrong point. 😂
  7. Maybe it was all misunderstood and he needed to get on to get a winners medal 😂
  8. I am a pessimistic, miserable bastard but last night I truly believed we were winning that trophy. It was just written in the stars. The build up to the final gave me goosebumps. The videos created by media outlets, the BT spine tingling 10 minute video, the song by ST PHNX the videos of fans signing and dancing in Seville, I loved all of it. We fairly and skilfully beat better teams than Frankfurt and they were pretty shite last night. I genuinely can’t believe we have not taken that chance. I am totally gutted that Goldson doesn’t just stick out his foot and clear that cross. A goal out of nothing. I missed the ball going out of play for Kent’s chance but Kent has to be burying that, once it went to penalties I knew we were fucked. The consequences of not winning last night are too fucking painful. I admire those that are already moving on from it. I can’t. Not sure I will ever get over that. We will Never have a better chance of winning a Major European trophy. Football is just going to get harder and harder for the teams from low budget countries and this season we haven’t even managed to win domestically. The players are going to have to somehow lift themselves for the Scottish Cup final because the thought of finishing this season trophy-less is unbearable
  9. I agree. He got more right than wrong but I just don’t know why he doesn’t use Davis more. Davis and Arfield would be my last 20 minutes subs in basically any European game. Their experience and in particular Davis’ calmness on the ball and abilities to take pressure off his team mates is invaluable. Arfield on for a tiring Jack and Davis on for a mediocre Kamara leaving Aribo up top and Sakala busy on the right would have been the right tactics and subs
  10. Thought he got it wrong to take Aribo off and bring sands on too. Davis should have been on that park with 20 minutes to go. Sands should not have been on and Aribo should not have been off.
  11. Wouldn’t normally agree with a hypothetical but in this instance we would have won if we had him giving us an out ball. Even when Aribo started doing it we looked the better team. Aribo up top next week if no other options. We need that ball to stick up top when we break up the park
  12. He said “you don’t need to play the position to know how to play the position.” Opposite of what you are quoting him as. He is right
  13. Thought the subs were poor. Sakala should have been a straight swap for Wright and kept Aribo up top as that was causing them problems. Not sure why you are taking Aribo off and putting Sands on. Sands was poor in the build up to the shot which led to the corner. 1-0 is not disastrous but 0-0 was doable with the right tactical changes
  14. If we win the Europa then all will be forgiven of this team this season. I am still raging that we haven’t capitalised on the 6 point lead we had at The turn of the year. League was in the bag but we totally fucked it. And it wasn’t because of ability. It was because of mentality and tactics we are the best squad of players in the country but too often we just down tools and think our ability will carry us through instead of our work rate. I can’t see us closing a 6 point gap in the league but stopping the treble, winning the Scottish cup and capping it off with a Europa league victory would be a fine marker of our 150th year
  15. Aye I would be getting Helander off. Move Bassey inside and get Borna on.
  16. Genuine question because I don’t know the answer. What are the financial implications to Hearts between finishing 3rd versus finishing 4th. I assume Europe is a factor ? Edit: I googled it myself. There is 200k difference between the prize money and both 3rd and 4th go into the Europa conference competition. Given that, it is hard to see how they can argue that he is worth 500k to them over The last 4 months of the season. But they own his contract so it’s up to them
  17. Tav is a talented player and key to a lot of our play. I don’t believe he should be captain though and I have, and continue to, question his big game balls. I think he is significantly better than Patterson for now and I have faith in GVB to make that call. Patterson will have his chance when the time is right and if he moves on from us before he is a regular then we will get a great return on him. Win win.
  18. Yeah. That’s what I intended by saying “massive but” my intention was that it is a massive negative to contrast the positives. Maybe I used it incorrectly.
  19. Am I right in thinking we were linked with GVB between Caixinha and Gerrard? I just wonder how different things might have been if we had appointed him sooner. Gerrard raised our profile again, returned our high standards and expectations. Made us into winners again. But. And it’s a massive but. We underachieved domestically during his reign.
  20. I’ve been on here since 2006 for fuck sake. I haven’t stuck with anything for that long. I was on here before I met my wife!!! As an expat of over 20 years, I don’t know anyone on here. But the forum has been a constant connection to both Rangers and Scotland for a very long time, there have been some brilliant characters over that duration and no matter how wild and crazy life gets, this place is always a comfortable haven offering a psychological escape.
  21. Only read the last couple of pages of this thread but it seems like there are plenty in our support are seeing right through this pish. How Doncaster is still in a job is beyond me. Who does he formally report to? Who assesses his performance and says “aye he is worth 400k a year”. I don’t mean conspiracy of shadowy puppet masters, I mean who is his actual, public boss? Bringing the winter break forward is utterly outrageous and corrupt and it is definitely up with “Japanese tour” and Phil O'Donnell death levels of ambulance chasing. You have to almost admire how they get away with this shite. How have they convinced anyone this is a good idea? How have they managed to get this by The TV companies? celtic were heading for an absolute hiding on the 2nd January even before the 500 fan ruling. But never forget that the Phil O'Donnell cancellation and the Japanese tour fiasco worked for them and allowed them to regroup and turn the screw on us. We are still in a premier European competition and any fixture pile up would be in their favour again. Our players and manager better take heed and give no quarter
