  1. As always with a struggling manager it’s not the loss that matters, it’s the manner of defeat. Sorry but we have been utterly embarrassing in our last two games. And not much better before that. We have been scraping by teams. Fuck knows how we sneaked past PSV. We look completely devoid of ideas. There is no energy, no high press, we seem set up to limit the scoring and that just leads to disaster. Our team won 55 and went far in Europe on the back of high press, high energy, attack the opponent, give no fucking respect. What the fuck has happened to that? I don’t know how many million we have in the bank but I would be tempted to throw it all at Michael Beale to come and sort this shit out. I can’t see GVB turning this around.
  2. Today I have discovered that my least favourite thing to read about on a football forum is basic financial management. I am amazed at how little the average punter grasps about income and expenditure and the need to balance it How do people manage their own households.
  3. Aye but he isn’t a cunty one is he? I like Katic, I like how he took the club to heart and I like players who wear it on their sleeve. I was truly rooting for him to come good but it just wasn’t to be. I didn’t think he was a bad player and certainly in my opinion was better than Simpson and some of the other shots we have had at CH. football is football and sometimes it doesn’t work out but I am sorry that is the case here.
  4. 😂”once a Ranger always a Ranger” be damned.
  5. We had Sands and Goldson. We rested them. we overspent by 80 million before we got to European final and qualified for the champions league. What’s hard to understand about this. In a period of 5 years we are 80 million behind. This year will balance that and we need to then have a sustainable model we have 2 players at least for every position. Yes we have injuries but we cannot just keep gambling in the transfer market it has be balanced. I believe we have a good enough squad to win this league.
  6. Jack played at Center half to allow rests for our first team and blood in some youngsters. It’s a good use of our squad. Alfie is being brought back and while not fit enough is still able to give us 30 minutes. We have youth strikers and we can play some players like Fashion through the middle in the event Colak is unavailable it’s not great but it is not disastrous either and we have to acknowledge the long term balancing of the books
  7. It’s a tightrope for sure. But a balance needs to be struck. as pointed out in the thread, we ran at a loss of 80 million in previous years. Funded by benevolent shareholders. That can’t continue and there has to be counter balance to that. We brought in 7 players. Will they all work out? absolutely not but the target has to be more work out that’s don’t. I still believe we have enough to win this league.
  8. A 20m plus sale is a rare thing from the Scottish leagues. It may happen more as the money in football continues to rise but currently its unusual. We managed to get great prices for Patterson and Bassey but we haven’t capitalised on Kamara/Kent/Morelos/ and I would argue we were forced into underselling Aribo we are just getting started on sustainability models and I think this might be a hard one for fans to swallow.
  9. This is the best explanation of what I was trying to say. great thread
  10. We have also signed a hugely rated young left back, a 21 year old first team starter with a pedigree from Germany, another 21 year old winger who came through EPL ranks and played in Bundesliga. We have our own home grown talent knocking on the door and being given their debuts and game time where appropriate. So I think it’s unfair to suggest we are not forward planning. That game at QotS shows that we have one eye on the future with the older heads you mentioned passing the baton I get the frustration of the modern era where deadline day brings excitement but sometimes it just doesn’t happen. 7 signings on top of Goldson is not a bad window. It’s unlikely they will all come good but that’s football
  11. Got to be honest I am not surprised at the lack of more additions and not massively disappointed. Of course there is room to improve but there are no guarantees when you are bringing players in. Look at Ramsay. Look at Sadiq going for 20m plus when he was a dud with us. Transfers are a lottery. we re-signed Goldson which I really wasn’t expecting. We brought in Souttar and Davies to upgrade Simpson and Balogun and it seems they are both injured, Helander is a disaster really and that situation sucks but we can’t just keep signing more and more players because we are having a bad run of injuries I think it was smart to bring in a replacement for Barisic because at times he looks like a shell of the player he can be. Since the arrival of some serious competition he has massively stepped up and hopefully Yirdvan is one for the near future Matondo is still settling but early signs are not great. He might still come good though. Tillman and Lawrence have been great additions and improved the starting 11. As has Colak. I really wanted to see Lowry step up this year and also McCann. So there has to be room to allow that. On top of all that we just simply don’t know what the club have tried to do. They may have been chasing some quality very hard but we fish in a Very small pond and there is a lot of competition.
  12. Call me a pessimist but this would be a dream scenario for me... the riches and glamour of the CL and then down to trying to actually win a trophy at Europa level. If we were to somehow get second and get to the last 16 are we realistically going any further than that?
  13. Nobody is going to pump us. We might take a loss but we won’t take a doing
  14. Massive for sure but by fuck have we got a challenge on our hands this season. It’s going to be an epic campaign both domestically and in Europe. I think we need more bodies in the door and some out.
  15. Not only is the journey from the bottom of Scottish football back to the pinnacle now complete but in so doing we have single handedly dragged the whole of Scottish football up with us.... Thanks to us, and us alone, there are are two Scottish Teams competing in the group stages of the CL... Its utterly phenomenal
  16. Apparently... haven't got BT or anything actually.. just RTV and usually rely on streams but none are working
  17. anyone got a working link none of the ones I have tried so far work on my mac
  18. As mentioned on another thread... Wright may have been signed and in the squad due to the Homegrown player rule. We need to have 4 players in the Euro squad that were developed from within the club and another 4 that were developed in Scotland.
  19. Is the Souttar signing maybe because of the Homegrown player rule? The Homegrown Player Rule is a rule for UEFA competitions that was first introduced in 2006–07 season and fully enforced beginning in the 2008–09 season. On top of a maximum 25 players for List A, clubs had to designate a minimum 8 players that were trained by clubs from the same national league, with 4 of them being from the club's own youth system.[1] The rule in turn capped a maximum of 17 foreigners for the club in UEFA competitions.
  20. Signed as a contingency for Goldson leaving. Goldson stayed. He won’t get any game time when everyone is fit.
