  1. He’s a fraud. I called it when we concede the 3rd against PSV because he shat the responsibility of marking de Jong. Not a leader, has had 1 good season in 6 whilst at us.
  2. Genuinely, you’d be better off sticking one of us up front than Dessers
  3. Probably a sign of how badly it’s gone. The players already here must be thinking what the fuck happened with recruitment, the guys brought in are probably thinking how the fuck did this squad make a Europa League final recently…
  4. Lol, the best managers go to the biggest leagues (unless the moneys stupid a la Saudi Arabia). Unless the manager was born on the Copland road, no manager on earth is declining offers from teams in La Liga/Ligue Un to come to us. The guy from AZ is an interesting one because you could argue the Dutch league is on the verge of overtaking France as the 5th league of Europe. If Ajax came in for him, I can’t see any possibility where he’d turn them down to manage us.
  5. My mistake, but he adapted very well to the EPL and was one of the longest serving managers in the division by the time he was sacked. Shows a lot more versatility. Has also been at sides who’ve won domestic titles (Bundesliga 2 with Ingolstadt, promotion with Aalen), plays very attack minded football, plus was very successful with RB Leipzig who generally are good at spotting talented managers.
  6. Sorry but I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it, we can’t be hiring someone who’s only managed in one country. Marcelino looks great on paper, but he’s managed in Spain all his life and the only job abroad lasted a few months and he quit due to personal reasons (and it was at Marseille, which isn’t far geographically from Spain). We need a manager who’s experienced in different cultures, because they’ve shown they can adapt to it and learn how to play against different sides. It’s why the chap from Alkmaar probably isn’t the way to go either. Id much rather we go after a Hassenhuttl who has managed and been fairly successful in 3x countries, than someone who probably got homesick the first time he left Spain.
  7. Lampards a worse manager than Beale, which is quite difficult to achieve
  8. He’s another project manager. Doing well at one club in one country, I really don’t see how it’s an upgrade.
  9. Tbf as an interim until the end of the season (if we could line someone next level up from summer), he’d probably be the best appointment we could make on a short-term basis. Knows how to grind results, players love him, has a base up here, has won titles at most clubs he’s been with, isn’t going to be phased about needing to win on atrocious pitches in the middle of winter, the list goes on.
  10. Tbf this is why I’m not against Muscat. My main concern is he’s not as experienced as Ange and was also a fucking head case as a player, which might resurface in the goldfish bowl of Glasgow. His sides look like they’re a carbon copy of Anges, which is perfect for domestic SPFL football (if we build the right squad for him). Currently we don’t have that (you need a pacey striker to get in behind sides like Kyogo, maybe Danilo could do that but unsure), so it’s another rebuild in January and trying to move on players like Dessers, Lammers who won’t be able to play with that high intensity.
  11. Near enough the Zidane of South America, won 2 CLs, runner up in a 3rd, didn’t win the domestic league often but hoovered up all the cups. Remember Argentinas economy is and has been a shitshow, so winning their CL against sides from Brazil who can massively outspend them, is good going. It’s like a manager from Italy constantly winning/getting to the finals of the CL in the modern era, despite English clubs being able to spend 5x more than him.
  12. Embarrassing, I hate when people ask questions then refuse to listen to the answers and interrupt. If I was either player, I’d have just kept walking. No point being dragged down to trying to speakto the local Ned whilst he shouts at you. We’re all frustrated, but those videos are fucking cringe and decisions such as captaincy should never be made off the back of them. Butland does his best despite the clown shouting at him
  13. There is a 0% chance we get Gallardo. He’s arguably the most highly rated South American coach, has turned down sides from the top 5 European leagues, has won league and continental titles, plus he doesn’t speak English.
  14. Dessers you could argue had a good pedigree, finishing as top scorer in the Conference League, scoring for a godawful side in Serie A, plus some good seasons in the Dutch league. Lammers never made any sense. A player who has scored 9 goals in the previous 4 seasons. We let Kent go because he didn’t produce numbers, then sign a forward who had worse stats, for a decent transfer fee, who plays the same position as one of our best players (Cantwell). For anyone who has watched moneyball, my favourite scene is where the coaches are round the table talking about how to replace Giambi. You have all the old coaches talking up players because they look good, swing well, nice action etc, when the problem is you need to replace the runs and output he had. We’ve fallen into that trap. Lammers looks like a decent player, has nice control, can shoot with both feet, technical player etc. BUT, he can’t produce or score for shit. We lost goals from Colak, Sakala and replaced them with players who look tidier but don’t produce anything meaningful.
  15. We shouldn’t have allowed Wilson and Robertson to hire him, when we likely already knew they were both on their way out. In hindsight, an interim manager last time would’ve made a lot of sense. Give us time to make the board changes, get a DOF replacement lined up, put the scouting network in place. Instead we allowed two fucking muppets in Wilson and Robertson, to hire a man completely under qualified for the role, then gave him free rein with our biggest transfer budget in over a decade. It’s not really a surprise it’s gone this badly when you look at it…
  16. My worry would be that he’s only managed in Germany and Austria, so 2x German speaking countries. At least the likes of Hassenhuttl, Marsch Favre etc have managed in multiple countries that speak different languages
  17. Also has won lower domestic leagues in Germany, got a Leipzig side to finish 2nd in the Bundesliga, lasted 4 years in the EPL (which bad managers don’t do), plays high pressing attacking football.
  18. Think Devlin and Romano are just piggy backing off the H&H post.
  19. Wonderful, H&H been fed that straight from the club exec. Give him the Limassol game if needs be, use the extra few days to get the new manager lined up then sack Beale at full time. International break gives him 2 weeks to get the squad playing football and try and find an ounce of talent in the likes of Dessers, Lammers etc
