It’s an absolutely shite standard of league barring the bigger 4-5 teams. There’s a reason why premier league clubs have stopped buying attacking players from the Dutch league (barring United and Antony and look how that’s gone). Too many forwards have overinflated stats there because they’ve scored a shed load against Go Ahead Eagles…

Seriously think the tarriers will drop points against Motherwell if we do the business. Scoreboard pressure. Just get the 3 points. I’d be tempted to keep Cantwell and Lawrence in the middle and put Cortez and McAusland either side of Dessers. If it’s a tight game, having Matondo, Silva to come off and run at them at full pelt, should make the difference.- 1,556 replies

You’ve picked a fucking horrendous song as your starting point. But it does work on the last line, I’ll very begrudgingly give you that
-
Clement made a point of saying how he doesn’t just want a goal scorer as a striker. Shanklands all round play isn’t levels above Dessers that would justify having 2x strikers costing circa £4-5million each and 29 years old or over. We’ve got Cyriel until at least summer and he’s doing fine currently. If he goes in summer, Shanklands a good replacement, but we don’t need both.

Warming to the big man. Movements very good, finishing is erratic but he’s scoring goals and we’re not reliant on him. Works fucking hard off the ball, something our forwards haven’t done for years. A lot of the interceptions we make by the likes of Cantwell, Lawrence etc are because he’s worked hard to close off the easy passing lanes.
-
Agreed, but now it’s probably the most demanding position
-
Agreed, Sterling’s looks worse than that because his back leg leaves the ground as well. That St Mirren player should never have been sent off there
-
Not the case, his movement is good (hence why he keeps getting chances even if he fluffs a fair few) and his hold up play against Aberdeen was good. There’s a reason why he tires around 70 odd minutes and then when Silva comes in there’s loads of room to run into. Defenders have to follow him constantly and his pressing helps us as well. Never going to be worth the money we paid for him, but if we’d signed him for £2million and had a first choice number 9, we’d all be fairly happy with him.

On the line is a penalty…

They are pish, it’s like watching us under Beale. Strikers isolated, everything’s slow and they’re basically reliant on individual moments. Keep the faith, we’re a much better side than them and the league table will show that come May
-
Agreed. If we win the title, it’ll be a sure thing by early April because they will implode. Im still not sure if I see us getting over the line in a week by week title race in the depths of May, there’s still scar tissue and our OF record is poor. There’s a real possibility that if we win our next 7 league games, we’ll be out of sight and the last 7 won’t matter as much. They are ready to implode and it’s about what we do, keep the scoreboard pressure and they’ll crumble soon.

Always liked Chris Burke. Struggled because of some mystery virus and kept getting injured, but he proved he was a very good player down in true EFL -

Munro played for us during Souness for much longer than many remember. Graeme tried to replace him several times but kept going back to him -
He does love us tbf, used to always big us up on talksport

Cortez looked a bit slower than I thought he’d be. Seemed to have a real burst of acceleration on the highlight reels -
It’s usually the length of term that’s as much of a factor as the wage, when you get to 30 odd. Say he’s on £35k p/w as rumoured, we’re not offering him miles less than that. Maybe we’re trying to bring it down to 28-30k p/w, but we’re not going to insult our best player on form (barring super JB) by offering him half what he’s currently on. But we’re probably only willing to offer than kind of money to someone with no resale, on a 2 year basis (if we’re really embracing the player trading model). He might get similar weekly wages down south on a longer term like 4 years…

Badly need some changes. Get Wright off for McAusland, take Raskin off and put Cantwell in the middle or get Lawrence on. -
