The lad might not have the quality but he is grafting and giving 100% and given the dross we have seen this season it's a damn sight more than some of the passengers we have been carrying. Would much rather have him or young Hardie in the team at the moment than wasters like Boyd.
The building of the scouting network will be a long and difficult one. The most obvious market for us is Scandanavia and the English lower leagues. Once we can get that in place we can build from there.
How any manager can look at someone like Walsh in training and then decide to play a left back like Stevie Smith at left midfield is absolutely clueless.
They might not be world beaters but they are a million miles better than some of the dross that was playing. The young lads have been giving 100% for a start.
I'd have two leagues of 16 or 18 and regionalise the play-offs. It makes no sense having the likes of Berwick and Annan playing teams like Peterhead and Elgin. The play-offs have been a welcome addition and I would start the season earlier in say mid-July and finish it at the end of May with a winter break in January. No-one wants to go and watch football in the freezing cold so the more games we have in the semi-decent weather the better.
How mystifying must it have been for those youngsters at the start of the season being constantly overlooked while McCoist's team served up one pish performance after another? Anyone with half a brain cell could see we were crying out for an injection of youth rather than the shite that we were being served up week after week.
He forgot to mention the fabled Japanese tour the rattlers claimed was the reason the league couldn't be extended and the postponement of the Old Firm game in January after the death of Phil O'Donnell when half their team was suspended.
Templeton has been a great example of a player who has got better in the eyes of the support while he was sitting on the bench. I can count about 5 good games he's had since he's came to the club.
The 3 months before Mols got injured was the best football that has been played at Ibrox in my lifetime. People call him a chequebook manager but if you are a manager and your chairman asks you if you want 30 or 40 million to spend what are you going to say? Also worth bearing in mind that in 1999/2000 we almost qualified from the Champions League group stages despite being in Valencia and Bayern Munich's group. Those 2 clubs made the semis that year and contested the final the following year.
A serious question me and my mates were asking even in the past 2 seasons were how unfit our players were compared to the part-times were? Bearing in mind our team's apparent training schedule, I would imagine that those part time players at Alloa actually do more hours per week than our imposters. If those guys train two nights a week with their club I bet the majority of them are at the gym another 2 or 3 times per week.
A better poll might have been if we want McCall for the long term. However, a short term fix was urgently required so glad that the board have acted quickly.
King needs to put McDowall out of his misery. I don't want him long term but he really needs to pull Walter aside and ask him to take the team until the summer.
