Arsenal are drawn alongside PSG, Empoli and Olympiakos.
    - Olympiakos manager Ernesto Valverde comments that his team would have to stop Dave Keith should they stand any chance of winning their match against Arsenal.
    - Valverde's comments backfire as Dave Keith puts in a fantastic shift alongside captain Marouane Chamakh, as he scores two and makes one getting an 8.7 rating in a 4-1 win for his team. This win puts Arsenal top of group G with 3 points and a goal difference of +3. PSG are in 2nd place with their 1-0 win over Empoli.
    - de Oliviera gets a 7.2 rating and a goal in Porto's 2-1 win over Basel that makes them top Group A. Elsewhere in the group, Tottenham were defeated 2-1 by Spartak Moscow.
    - Atletico are hammered 3-0 by Shakter Donesk in their Group D opening match. Nathan Aird was one of the better players in his side with a 6.8 rating. Atletico had an uphill battle to fight from the start, when Bulgakov got an early goal in the 2nd minute, things then went from bad to worse as left back Alex Sandro got red carded. Eugene Seleznyov then completed the rout with 2 goals on the 35th and the 75th minute. Elsewhere, Juventus won 3-2 versus Fenerbache.

Starch came on for Edin Dzeko at half time, and despite a low 6.3 rating, had the most shots on target for his team, with 2. City are now 3rd in Group F, with Rangers top after demolishing Sparta Prague 3-0.
    - Porto Manager Vitor Pereira denies allegations that de Oliviera will be dropped following his 70th minute dismissal against Vit. Guimaraes, stating that he is an "important part of the team". Porto drew the match 2-2, and de Oliviera managed a 6.6 rating before his sending off.
