  1. People say there are no characters in the game any more...just a shame when one does come along, some can't wait to stick to boot in. The guy is a gem.
  2. The emotion when he scored reminded me of McCoist's diving header back in the day. Pretty sure it was his last old firm goal, and he knew it. Like Defoe today - knew it would likely be his last great moment in football. Looked like Gerrard welled-up a bit too.
  3. You've mixed metaphors, mate...have another stab at the dice and I'm sure you'll get it.
  4. Never EVER thought I'd say this about anyone...but he surpasses Goram for me now. Best Rangers goalie ever imo.
  5. The reason the story wasn't verified is because it was unverifiable - because it wasn't true. The only people who would've known if Uefa were investigating us are Uefa. And if they they won't comment on ongoing investigations, then it would have been impossible to verify. Meaning the Record (and others) have to decide if they trust the integrity of the source. If, as seems to be the case, the guy has a good track record, I can understand why papers would run with it. You could argue that across the board media outlets shouldn't run stories they can't verify 100%, but that's never going to happen.
  6. Apologies if a repost, couldn't see this elsewhere on here. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-legend-steven-gerrard-shortlisted-15996087
  7. I also think that Rodgers, like a lot of other overrated manager,is a fair-weather manager, i.e. is good when things are going well but doesn't know how to turn it around when they're not. Look at his last season at Liverpool. This could be the start of the wheels coming off.
  8. Or Jim Baxter. The truth is when things are going wrong people will find fault in things that otherwise they probably wouldn't notice.
  9. Do you have any evidence to support that though? For example, GVB who has links to us is 25-1. I've read several folk on here say they've put money on him, yet he remains a long shot. I pretty sure it would take more than a 'couple of bets' to take someone like GP, who hadn't been mentioned much, come in to 2-1 favourite. And even if it is true, why are people now betting on him when they weren't before? I'm not saying there's definitely something in it, just that someone's obviously heard something.
  10. I appreciate that, but still, I can't remember anyone being as short odds with any bookie since McInnes (who was actually approached). Just set wondered if anyone had heard anything because a Google news search really doesn't link him with us much at all.
  11. Graham Potter in to 2-1 favourite with Bet Victor. Anyone one heard anything about this? Seems very short odds for someone who's barely been mentioned up until now.
  12. Even if he believes the shite he's spouting, the timing of it shows a startling lack of judgment.
  13. Do you know what, of someone promoted me to three stations above my current level at my work I'd probably struggle. It wouldn't be my fault, but equally it wouldn't mean I was qualified to do it.
  14. Mind-boggling to me that anyone would want him anywhere near our club. Is it purely on the fact that he's managed in the EPL? Someone with his record in any other league would never be quoted.
  15. That would make sense. Risk losing out on a good candidate to try to get him on the cheap. I hate to say it but we'll end up with either Murty or someone like Tommy Wright.
  16. I'd love to believe our board are that forward thinking. But I don't. I honestly think they're hoping and praying Murty finishes the season strongly enough to justify giving it to him permanently.
  17. We're estimated to have paid £300,00 -£600,000 for Pedro. Big jump to the rumoured £2m for MPH. I just think if we were willing to pay that we'd have done it when his agent was touting him for the job. The fact that the board gave Murty the job until the season's end make me think they'll look for a cheap option. I could be wrong. It's been known.
  18. Would we have to pay to get Preud'homme? Seem to remember when he was linked the last time that even though he's out of work currently he's still technically under contract. You can bet your bottom dollar of there's a fee involved it won't be him.
  19. I think we need to stop thinking of him as a 'number 10'. He's not that type of player. He's essentially a second striker who takes a deeper starting position but he's not really a midfielder who'll get a hold of a game. If we play him we have to accept we're essentially playing 442.
  20. Very under-rated as footballer in my opinion. Was a pivotal player in the 04-05 title win.
  21. We can argue over terminology whether he was world class or just a great player, but there's no doubt that at his peak he wouldn't have been out of place at any side in the world. Not saying he'd have shone at every club on the world, but he was good enough to hold his own. He bossed games in Europe against top Bayern and Parma teams at a pretty young age. Also, at the time he got injured for Blackburn he was their captain and stand-out player at a time when they were a decent mid-table EPL team. If he hadn't got that injury I think he'd have been an EPL mainstay for the rest of his career.
  22. Another Warbuton gamble that didn't pay off. Rossiter: has potential but is injury prone. constantly injured Kranjar: has ability but is injury prone and leg might have gone. Gets injured long term and legs have definitely gone. Barton: has ability but has history of being disruptive. Bottles is and then is disruptive. Literally every high profile signing he made backfired. I'm sure Jordan's a nice lad but he'll never make it here.
  23. Bone rubbers? Some of the physios in this thread could rub boners.
  24. The funny thing about that was that I saw links to the Nicholas and Lambert thing posted on FB through a celtic page. It's like they're actually proud of a pair of barely-literate morons spouting barely-coherent nonsense. At least we have the decency to be embarrassed by trumpets like Butcher, but the filth seem to celebrate their dim-witted former players.
  25. I really don't see how that changes my comment. It was my sarcastic way of saying that I don't see anyone wanting to pay for him given his age and injury history.
